Lao netizens stepped forward to seek justice for a Thai man who was killed in a car crash caused by a 17 year old driver from a powerful, wealthy family in the country.

A Laotian man named Joseph Akaravong shared pictures of the damaged white Ferrari on Facebook and a photo of the dead Thai man, identified only as Fu, yesterday, August 27. In the caption, Joseph shared some details of the incident.

“This is the car involved in the fatal accident. The deceased is a Thai national who was staying in Laos. The driver is a 17 year old Laotian teenager named Suapone Bouphasavanh. His family is trying to avoid legal punishment by saying he is just a minor.”

Details of how the accident occurred were not revealed in the post. The story drew attention from both Lao and Thai netizens. Some Laotians feared that the family of the teenage driver would use their wealth to close the case. Netizens voiced their opinions in the comment section.

“When the president was 17 years old, he didn’t even own a motorcycle, yet this 17 year old has a Ferrari. Does his family sell drugs?”

“The parents must take responsibility for allowing their child under the age of 18 to drive.”

“This is not fair for Fu. He did not deserve this.”

“Saying he hasn’t reached the legal age is a nonsense excuse but it works. Why do you say nothing about the legal age when buying the car and driving it? This isn’t about legal violations; it’s about the life of one person.”

Thai people expressed their appreciation for the support from the Lao people in the comments. Some stated that they hoped Lao laws could not be bought with money, unlike in Thailand.

Others mentioned a recent accident where a Laotian driver ignored a red light and crashed into a car carrying a Thai family, resulting in the deaths of a pregnant Thai woman and her unborn baby. They believed that the victims had not yet received justice, as there had been no follow-up information on the legal punishment or compensation.

the worst thing rich parents can do is give their minor son a sports car.

No, the worst they can do is not to bring them up but to spoil them, giving them no values.

This is a case of knowing the price of everything, and the value of nothing.

The offender has probably been brought up in a bubble of self entitlement.

An example, a young Thai student 13 years old, very wealthy father moved out years ago, boy lives with his Thai mother.

Every Saturday the boys personal driver takes the boy to meet his father at an agreed major shopping centre in Bkk. Boy meets father t 10.00 am along with his driver. Father departs the scene at 12 noon and not seen or heard of until the next Saturday and very little communication / conversation between the boy and father.

Driver expected to do research late every week to get details of new big brand expensive gym boots / gym shoes now on the market, and new brand name school bags.

Every Saturday father buys the boy 2 new pairs of gym boots / shoes and once a month a new big name expensive school bag.

Shoes are taken home and the driver repacks the shoes and puts the boxes in a big storage cupboard in the garage designated for the boys personal car and which has a well set up accommodation unit for the live in 24/7 driver.

Shoe boxes never opened again.

A lot of jealousy on this forum because the kid or his family are successful.

Fu is Thai. We all have seen how they ride motorcycles dangerously.

If it was an old farang in a Toyota who hit Fu, most on the forum would be saying it was Fu’s fault.

Was Fu wearing a helmet, was Fu on his phone, was Fu riding on the wrong side of the road, were his lights working, was he drunk, did he have a license?????

Unlike the Red Bull case the young man did stop and did not try to blame his staff.

I wish him all the best. He is probably traumatized from the incident.

I guess the people on whose suffering this "success" is based would not call it "success ".

Praewa killed 8 (or 9?) Thais (no Laotians).

"555"  (her words).

She was 16.

Her "punishment" was a couple of weeks community work.

But she didn't even do that.

Disgusting but TIT.

thai authorities are doing nothing to get the red buffalo guy extradited back to thailand... so that tells you a lot about the judiciary here...
