On September 6, at the Immigration Bureau, police officials held a press conference to announce the arrest of an American man who claimed to be a Life Coach. He was accused of selling courses to treat depression using psychedelic mushrooms.

Police Major General Panthana Nuchanarot, along with other senior officers, revealed the details. The arrested man, a 62-year-old American named Darius (surname withheld), was found in possession of 1,360 grams of dried mushrooms.

He was charged with working without a permit and possessing a Category 5 narcotic substance (psychedelic mushrooms) without authorization.

The arrest took place at his residence located in Soi Ladprao 108, Jompol Subdistrict, Chatuchak District, Bangkok.

The investigation began when the Immigration Bureau found online ads selling depression treatment courses using psychedelic mushrooms.

Claiming to have a Master's degree in Psychology and over 20 years of experience, Darius marketed himself as a Life Coach. Undercover agents were able to track him to his home by pretending to be interested in buying a course for 2,000 baht per session.

After the undercover agent made the payment, the officials conducted a legal search. Darius was unable to provide a work permit. During the search, the officers found 13 bags of dried mushrooms in the freezer, totaling 1,360 grams, and the marked money used for the undercover purchase.

Darius admitted that he knew the mushrooms, also known as magic mushrooms, had properties that could combat depression.

He claimed ignorance of their illegal status in Thailand. He had been running these treatment courses for about a month, using methods like smoking the mushrooms or mixing them into chocolate while playing soothing music to relax his clients.

The officials have since charged Darius and are proceeding with legal actions against him, reported Siam Rath.

US guy, figures. Psychedelics are the new thing in the USA, and legal, or decriminalised, in some US states and cities.

He also believes the world is flat.

Wow! Let's legalize LSD then. Marijuana is already legalized, alcohol and tobacco have been legalized long time ago. Next is heroin, LSD, crystal meth?

Low dose Mushrooms and LSD are the two most known and effective treatments for PTSD. They are serious game changers for people with this condition. Much better than the garbage the Pharma companies and Dr’s prescribe for the same condition.

I assume, that will be a contribution to the mushrooms as well, right?

Utter nonsense they do not 'Burn your brains out' if dried and mixed with tea, maybe if you eat them raw. Wales is the place in the UK, the cows look very relaxed as do the sheep, that munch on them all day, got to go early morning though to find them.

I had a friend in high school lose his mind on mushrooms and entered a permanent state of psychosis afterwards. Literally ruined his life at 18.

maybe our mushrooms' are stronger , like Daytura that destroys many young peoples lives, fortunately majic mushrooms are treated as toxic here and young people don't touch them, although the track record is not perfect

It would destroy the illegal drug trade and all the criminality it entails.

Unfortunately ANYTHING  on the face of this earth that has a strong  effect on people, there will always be some people that thing is not good for.....

The vast  vast majority of people who ever took psychedelics made it through the experience ok...

Take weed.... It makes me forgetful paranoid and stupid....I cant smoke weed, not any....Not at all ever...But I have had no problems with mushrooms in the past or alcohol, none what so ever...

Maybe another person absolutely can not touch alcohol but they are ok with weed and mushrooms ect...

Point being every one is different and should decide whats best for them self...

A no I dont think a drug like meth thats bad for everyone should be legal....
