Just nearly sent me back home to Blighty.

Suvarnabhumi Airport Immigration. Just nearly sent me back home 😦 to Blighty.

I just arrived at the airport from the UK. They’ve got some new security kiosks and for daytime Saturday it was not busy at all but the the lines weren’t going that quick at all. Eventually I got to the IO, serious look on his face looked about 30.

I’ve got a new passport as my last one was full but to 1 clean page. I’ve always come two times a year for a month or 2  to Thailand but when the fake pandemic broke out i stayed here for 2 1/2 years from January 2021 to June 2023  not able to stomach what was going on in the UK with people queuing round the block with the sleeve rolled up.

I used the 2 month Covid extension at the local Immigration where I stay in NongKhai and it was no trouble at all. When that ended in 2023 I did a visa run to Lao Savannakhet Thai Consulate and maybe a last trip over the border to Vientiane before heading back to Blighters.

I worked for 6 months and jacked my job and had another 6 months where I extended my Visa Exemption on arriving at Swampy at the local immigration and then did some border hops and extended those to get me to 6months.

I’ve been back in Blighty for 3Months and have holiday to take from work so a few days ago i arranged a 2week trip to see my girlfriend and step son and have a new passport I received last week.

All arrangements made I just arrived in front of said Immigration officer. He brings my details up as he looks at my passport and it “  No no no !! , too visa runs !!  your not getting in today where’s you visa ?”

I don’t need a visa ? I said.  “Everything changing now sir, let’s go” He was delighted with a big smile on his face after confirmingmy return ticket in a couple of weeks “ I think you be going home today Mister”. They’ve been deporting people all day and apparently so now was i.

I did want he wanted and begged and pleaded to his narcissistic soul for clemency. How it would have gone if I couldn’t speak Thai I don’t know but when I proved to his superior Manager when he arrived that I have a family here he started to relent and said “ Get your girlfriend on the phone, I give you one chance for her to give the correct answers” It was lucky I got thru to her. He bombarded her with questions and warmed to her as she was dressed in work attire cutting rubber trees. I got my stamp but the original guy who then took me back to the counter for stamping me in said all people with in the rules but lots of border runs etc will get refused entry even with a 2month tourist visa in their passport ready as immigration will assume you are going to try and stay a lot longer and not believe that you are going home on the day your ticket says.

I got it from the Boss man himself. It appears that the sudden surge in young shirtless French guys razzing round Phuket on Mopeds are causing the Thai peoples already general dislike of Falang to effect the good ones like me.

“Many problems with the foreigner right now now in Thailand “

I got away with it this time. I don’t particularly want to get a Marriage visa , which will involve marrying my girlfriend, plus isn’t it a trip to Bangkok for paperwork ? Anyway it’s the cloudy rainy season now and the rice fields will be glorious

Woo Hoo! Bring on the village !! Get in !!

They probably want you to get a DTV. Those immigration officers should be fired, they need a clear out of the ones on a power trip

Great Ai story

I think this probably just applies to trolls. It seems trolls have a lot of problems gaining entry into Thailand.

AI usually has better grammar than in that story.

The IOs doing the job they're paid to do should be fired?  Odd attitude.

The op seems to be taking the pith, it seems he lives here but doesn't want anyone to know.

They've got a long history of causing issues on arrivals, what specifically did the op do against the law or rules?

Most likely noted for awhile ago, and this was the right day for him to get an warning and a heads up to get the proper visa.

Just him proving his language skills, have a gf and live here more or less permanent excludes him as a tourist.

Raised suspicion that he may have been abusing the VE system, perhaps?   What, specifically, did the IO do against the law or rules that justifies his being fired?

Huh?  Isn't this supposed to be an English-only forum?!

You haven't answered the question, "what specifically did the op do against the law or rules?" what is it?

IO needs to follow the laws and rules not make things up

As I read the OP, the guy has spent all but 9 months of the last 3-1/2 years in Thailand.  All on various extensions.

Never forget, they hate us and will do anything possible to screw you over given even the smallest of chances.

Good think you speak Thai. As never encountered an IO who can speak more that much Blighty lingo, or I would not believe this post

Nice embellishment.

When I wrote my SMS AI chat app way back around the year 2,000, I deliberately put spelling mistakes and slang in the replies to fool people into thinking that they were chatting with a real person.

You know, something like "Cor luv a duck, you're a rite one ain't you?"  🙂

Lucky you had an app for making video calls then, on your phone with internet connection, did she hold phone at arms length to see her cutting rubber trees ? Did you use your UK sim or did the officer call her from his phone ? Personally I would expect a long term GF to meet me at the Airport.

This is human nature to hate. But you’ve gotta give then them something to like and showing them a pic of the step son and then the phone call to the girlfriend dressed to cut rubber in the rubber plantation swayed it and at the end of it they all loved me. If I’d have been just a Pattaya guy with just nothing else going on then I’d be waiting for the next plane home at I assume my expense.

Learning to speak Thai makes the whole Thai experience different and you get treated differently.

I have a Sim Dtac I slipped in the phone as i used the loo route from the plane to immigration. Yes my girlfriend was in all the garb , with the big hat she looks like a which and it’s daytime so trees are visible and it was mentioned that i can cut rubber and they were impressed.

What a nanny state.  Thai visa is known for having a large proportion of very nasty members who live nothing better that to bicker ( is that spelt correct, who cares) , should that be in commas  or brackets.

This thread will go for pages like a lot of mine where members come on usually to say I’m making it all up. What a horrible bunch, mostly, but not all.

This is a massive heads up and people should be aware if they have had a period of visa runs consecutively inside the rules they could find themselves in my boat like today , or plane. Scary stuff when the IO said even if I have a TR60 they won’t believe I’ll go home within that visas means.

Why?  He's only been gone 3 months, and she is in Nong Khai.  He can probably work our how to get there all by himself without her holding his hand.

Imagine if it happened in real life, few of you having a chat different views, then someone comes along and says you can't talk about this any further, you'd say get stuffed

Fired just for doing their job?

It is up tp the IO on the spot to decide whether to let you in or not. You can appeal to his boss, and if he says OK, then you can enter, if not OK, you don't enter.

If you don't like the rules, then complain to Immigration.
