Thai man condemned for using free cafe WiFi to watch porn - video

Nobody cares if you watch porn.

The problem is he didn't buy anything.

This story is blown out of proportion for clicks and views and $$$$ ch-ching

Actually, having porn on your device in a public place is not "wokeness". It's rude. Do you want to hear moaning on a cell phone next to you while having a coffee in a coffee shop?

The story was more about the "staring" than the not buying.

How do you know the sound was on? Were you sitting next to him? Phones come with a handy function to not sound loud enough so other people could hear, or perhaps he had an earphone in. My 20 year old mobile has one of those.

Valid point...

There are some messenger 'groups' I'm in, such as LINE Messenger for our football team etc....   and I don't open the posts on the BTS (for example) as one of the lads is bound to have posted something dodgy...

I accept he was probably looking at something to do with women, but was it porn? These silly days even Playboy centerfolds were classified as "porn" by the wokistas.

Porn is actually banned in Thailand, so it could just have been a bit of erotica, and the easily offended assumed it was porn- if he had a pillow on his lap it might help their case, but if not, likely they are talking rubbish.

As isolated behavior perhaps...  but he was also...

.. leering at girls and women, which can be an act of sexual harassment.

.. This was not a one off, he was noticed in 'other cafes' behaving the same.

I suspect the behavior was more an issue than what he was watching, but perhaps the what he was watching was the final straw.

Erm... thats a bit naive, even though porn is officially banned in Thailand, so are many thing, gambling etc... yet porn is as rife and accessible here as it is anywhere else... Even guys in Thai Parliament have been caught watching porn !!!..

I'm not sure what you are getting at with the pillow.

---------

Perhaps this is a storm in a tea-cup and the cafe owner over-reacted and is rather woke, as you pointed out... Or, this is an issue of concern and young girls in the area are at risk...

...  Had the news been different and his guy sexually assaults a young student on her way home from the cafe... many would argue that the warning signals were there and why did no one do something about this...

Its kind of a no-win situation - but it seems the cafe owner did the right thing, she wants to protect the other customers and she has every right to, its her own shop.

Got a few foreigners in Pattaya doing the same thing.

How do we know that he was actually "leering"- we only have her word for it.

Did he get banned in the other cafes? Were the police called? How many times was he "noticed" in other cafe's? The OP doesn't answer any of those relevant questions.

Sounds like LOS is going down the perpetually offended route as already entrenched in western countries, IMO.

What is the problem? A bar is free an if they give free internet it is up to them. That the man did not spend anything should be told by the man in charge that consumptions are obliged or leave. But he did not do that. Policy should be changed, but you can't control what people ae doing on their cellphone

what?, he is conducting an illegal act (porn is illegal in thailand duh!) in a public place.    best thing to do is humiliate the guy in public (as they have done)  i dont give a shlt if u watch porn but have the decency to watch at home in private.

I couldn't think of anything worse, how is it possible to sit in a public place and watch porn.

You need to watch porn in the bedroom with a beautiful naked woman.

Too many weirdo, Sick people in the world.
