Speaking of cognitive decline:

Biden's exit makes Trump the oldest nominee in U.S. history

Trump, at 78, becomes the oldest nominee in U.S. history if Harris or someone else younger than Trump succeeds Biden atop the Democratic ticket.

But, but isn't that exactly what you were claiming?

Correct, because the alternative was Trump, and clearly just about anyone on the planet would be a better pick than Trump.

So do you have to pledge to leave your brain at home when you get to wear a Maga hat? Seems to me some of these guys need to read 1984. Read, not look at the movie.

How is it possible one of the two US policical parties, the Republicans, can nominate such a person for the highest office in the USA. It says something about this nation.

It is staggering isn’t it……and to think 70 million plus people will still be voting for him?????

In a debate there is seldom as clear a winner as Trump was against Biden. Certainly this did not happen here.

The moderators were very biased and called out Trump, but not Harris when she lied about so many things, for instance Trump's 2025 agenda, when he has nothing to do with it.  To be fair, both sides lied so much to call out all the lies would have taken hours.

Trump was very vigorous, whilst Harris came across as a smirking fake person.

Almost nothing in the way of Harris' policies was put up, when Trump mocked her that he'd send her a MAGA hat even she had to laugh.

As Trump predicted the media claiming Harris slayed Trump just shows the total bias and outright lies the mainstream media resorts to.

Trump just edged it  perhaps, but there was no crystal clear winner. A tie, would be the fair assessment.

agree ! Three against one! But he did good considering the odds.

“They did not fact check Harris once on the plenty of false statements she made, such as insinuating Trump did not condemn neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, claiming Trump supports abortion bans and banning IVF, alleging police officers died on January 6, that Trump said there would be a ‘bloodbath’ if Biden won re-election and that his agenda is Project 2025”.

Certainly Trump showed his vigour and mental acuity are still at top level. However, since most Americans think Biden and Harris did not handle the economy or immigration very well, Trump could have hit a home run focusing on their failures. Even though he did bring up immigration a lot, this was also ancillary, and rarely about their policies. Of course this was caused by the structure of the debate, which gave far too much power to the moderators, who in effect dictated the direction of the debate.

However, the debate allowed Harris to make the debate, in large part, about Trump's record, when it should have been about Biden and  Harris' record.

Despite her annoying nasal voice, and fake smirking and laughter, Harris did not fumble the ball as badly as Biden. I never thought she would, as a qualified lawyer she's used to arguing. She did lie a lot, and was rarely called out by the moderators.

I still thought Trump outargued her, but maybe too much, taking all of her points, and thus making it about his own record, rather than hers. The pet eating thing was an unncessary fumble.

Harris did not set out much of her policy and did not give voters much reason to vote for her. In the end you can call this debate a tie and it won't matter much in the election. They said Trump lost 3 debates against Clinton, which he didn't. And he still won

Ohh yes they do. But Trump is thus far winning the falsehoods competition by a mile!

"In CBS' list linked above, four major falsehoods by Trump. And regarding Harris' remarks, one rated inconclusive and the other rated "Partially true, needs context."

I remember the two fact checks on Trump:

That Democrats approve of infants being killed after birth.

That immigrants (Haitian by the way) are eating pets in Ohio.

Both so freaking ridiculous only a crazy person (with crazy supporters) would try and say.

yeah, partly true or needs context is not given to Trump. 2 tier fact checking between Dems & Reps

That's how every Trump supporter always reacts to any truths told about Trump. It's always labeled as media bias or a lie.

It's like when people defend Trump as having "done nothing wrong". But yet he's a convicted criminal. It's always facts versus Trump supporter lies who always say that things are actually in reverse of the truth and facts.

So what you really have is media facts versus Trump supporter bias and lies.

Again, furthest from the truth. In the words of Lindsey Graham right after the debate: “Disaster.” Trump was unprepared, and his debate team should be fired, Graham told Tim Miller, host of The Bulwark Podcast.

Trump wins the debate falsehoods derby in a landslide, per CNN:

Fact-checking the ABC News presidential debate

(CNN)  — Former President Donald Trump delivered more than 30 false claims during Tuesday’s presidential debate against Vice President Kamala Harris, CNN’s preliminary count found – as he did during his June debate against President Joe Biden.

Trump again delivered a staggering quantity and variety of false claims, some of which were egregious lies about topics including abortion, immigration and the economy.

Harris was far more accurate than Trump; CNN’s preliminary count found just one false claim from the vice president, though she also added some claims that were misleading or lacking in key context.

Well they don't claim illegal immigrants are eating peoples cats and dogs or saying babies are being executed after birth during a presidential debate.

I'm sure Trump's dismissive 'Quiet, please' comment sat well with female voters.

yes, all career politicians on the take, who solved very little over the years, Trumps comes along an throws a spanner in the works, upsets the status quo. thats why they don't like him and voters do, they're fed up with self serving greed in charge and wanted a change.

An argument to be made yes, but I was commenting on the suggestion that she was not qualified to be President in comparison to Mr Trump.
