What did your parents die of?

The question is what did your parents pass away from?

 

Does it have any reflection on the way you now treat your health?

 

My father had leukaemia along with lung cancer , a constant roll your own smoker , of course he got lung cancer 

I remember telling him back in 2001a year before he died to make a Will update 

He went berserk "you can't wait till I die you bastard " he shouted before kicking me out of the house !

 

Strange I went to see a new doctor ( long story as I sacked my others)  today a new GP who asked me these questions about family history 

 

What did your parents have in sickness he asked?

 

I went into tell the new GP about how my health has been a battle the last few years with constant tests and lying doctors who claim they can't find anything and make sighing noises 

 

It's strange as I have heart problems,liver problems ,throat , eosphagul,kidneys,  stomach ,back ,bowel, etc and yet my family didn't have any of this 

Now I may eventually have to go for a heart and liver transplant in the future as well as my kidneys starting to need attention

Father - Lung Cancer, heavy heavy smoker even after diagnoses, was gone in 16 months after diagnoses, 81 yrs......I do not smoke. 

Mother - Rheumatoid Arthritis, medication ( some relatively new at the time ) to relieve pain was harmful to body in many different ways. Had a fall in the bathroom hit her head never recovered.. 62 yrs.

Unfortunately lung cancer is very hard to cure 

In my experience once you get past 78 they rarely do treatment unless you have private health insurance

 

One must decide however whether you wish to have treatment if the diagnosis is not good

All of the problems you have are from a bad diet besides a bad back, so that should be your first priority. Not smoking is a plus so lung cancer you may never get, but bowel,liver and heart are major issues that are best taken care of in a long healthy lifestyle. My dad smoked 3 packs a day and died at 79 from lung cancer. My mom lived till 84 and passed from bladder cancer, something that smokers get, but she never smoked, and wasn't around my dad for the last 30 years of her life. The doctors hesitated too long after she was found with the bladder cancer, could have removed it, and she passed because it spread. They're fault. This is why I smoked only a few cigarettes when I was 16, and never again, drank but mostly wine, and in moderation, and exercised with weights and, all of my life.

Mother died from multiple myeloma (cancer of the bone marrow plasma). Quite painful, and only 70 years old. She was a lifelong smoker. My dad died of multiple organ failure at 79. 

 

Both were really lovely souls and we're taken from this world way too early, I have friends that have parents that are still alive and I'm very envious. 

 

I do have one grandmother who lived to be 99, and I have an uncle that's 102, so I may or may not have longevity in my genes. I'm okay with it, when it's my time the reaper will come for me.

Father 84 (first) - Bile duct cancer; Mother 82 - Renal failure (due to not drinking enough liquids -  only Grants whisky and Pinot Grigio, with tiny amounts water with her pills) + Septicaemia - smoking since age 12 did not have any effect on her health apart from making both her sons non-smokers.

Mom passed on at the age of 81 from the effects of a serious stoke.  Dad lasted to 91.  He was diagnosed with the onset of Alzheimer's at 81, but was able to live at home for another 10 years (with his younger 2nd wife).  He finally died about 3 months after being put into a nursing home.

Father - Lung cancer (many years ago), heavy smoker of "Consulate" menthol cigarettes "cool as a mountain stream!!".

 

Mum - Still going strong at 90, still got all her marbles but now has to use a wheeled-walker.

Dad (mum's "new" hubby) - 88 registered blind (glaucoma) but otherwise all there.

 

Mum n Dad say that together they make about 80% of a complete human, dad holds mum up and she steers!

Father died at 66, liver cancer; mother died at 74, natural causes (although she was a heavy smoker and drinker).

Mum - cancer. Not sure where as I was only 12 when she was diagnosed. Given 6 months but lived another 4 years. I was 16 and I think she was around 60 when she died.

 

Dad - Heart attack at 67. Retired 65. I was 21 when he died. I was getting married on a Saturday. My sister and he drove 1000km for my wedding on prior Monday. He died on the Wednesday so honeymoon was organising his funeral and travelling back to my home town for it.

 

I have had 1 sister and 2 brothers die at around all around 83. 2 brothers left, one 78 and the other 81. I am the youngest at 68. Is I figure I have about 15 years left.

Father died at 35 in a car accident along with his father. His younger brother who was driving survived. My poor mother was told she had 6 months to live with lung cancer, went home, within 2 weeks had a stroke, survived that, died a month later with a heart attack at 71. My younger brother died of liver cancer at 74.

Mother in 1979 Through Cancer aged 40 as did her Sister + a brother all at 40 years old,,,Father aged  81 old age ? heavy Whisky drinker for years, his 2nd wife died 2 years before of not caring or watching her Diabetes....

 

On the cancer/smoking bit...a good friend died aged 98 he was very active never gave up working or smoking 60+ a day since he was a school boy.

You should have chosen your parents more carefully. 

You must blame your parents for the genes you were given.

My dad had a massive stroke , maybe from smoking most of his life and mom died of stomach cancer related to a lifetime of smoking. My dad’s mother died of lung cancer after struggling for years to quit.

I quit after my first helicopter ride for a heart attack. Hope it was soon enough. I have been receiving fairly frequent chest X-rays not related to my smoking history, which I don’t recall telling my docs here about. I think it is because of extensive cardiac history.

Well, IMHO, based on everything I am reading lately, and recognizing that it is more than likely TRUE in every sense, I agree with top researchers including in the forefront Dr. William Li, a well-known Harvard trained heart specialist, researcher, and scientist - that yeah, genes do cause some people to have certain diseases but only a small percentage while the majority of the causes of all the major diseases including heart, cancers, alzheimer's/demenia, diabetes, is poor DIETs.  This is a big pharma and big FOOD industries that want people to be sick so that they have to take drugs to cover up the symtoms, and food that since the 1980's has gone from natural to machine made.  Chemicals unhealthy for the human body, are used to color and alter the taste of products.   These have been shown to be unhealthy for a long time i.e.

seed oils/trans fats - have been known for over 20 years to be unhealthy and cause of cancers! yet only recently did the US FDA outlaw it somewhat.  Researchers are finding cures for diseases but based on food which has the necessary nutrients/chemicals to defend against and cure some diseases without side effects even and researchers are finding with surprise that the natural defense is much better.  In many cases, they are still recommending one to follow the doctor's orders but since the natural foods don't cause any side effects, they actually enhance that drug too.  But, skin cancers, lung cancers, and some other disease is most likely caused by lifestyle - smoking, tanning etc but that is also well known yet people still smoke and still get sunburned regularly.  Matter of choice - now we have a much better choice  and I suggest that people if possible should read the two best sellers by Dr. Li and diets/foods for healthy living.  The books are available in BKK.  Best of health and luck to all.
