Pattaya cracks down on businesses illegally blocking public roads and parking spaces

Mayor Poramet Ngampichet and Pattaya City Councillor Anupong Putthanawarat commend Pattaya municipal officers for removing cones, chairs, and metal barriers illegally placed by businesses to block parking spaces and public roadways and spaces.

PATTAYA, Thailand –  Municipal officers have been actively removing cones, chairs, metal barriers, and other items placed by businesses to block parking spaces and claim sections of public streets as private property. Their efforts have caught the attention of Pattaya City Councillor Anupong Putthanawarat, who presented a video clip commending the officers’ work in removing these encroachments at the recent Pattaya City Council meeting.

“This practice has caused some businesses to believe that the streets in front of their establishments are part of their property,” said Anupong. He emphasized that the efforts of the municipal officers to reclaim public roadways have helped address these misconceptions. “Their work is in line with Mayor Poramet’s policy to organize the city for the benefit of both residents and tourists,” he added.

 

Mayor Poramet Ngampichet expressed his gratitude for Anupong’s support and extended his appreciation to the municipal officers and the special operations staff. “I am proud of the team’s dedication in reclaiming public spaces, even though enforcing regulations in a city as diverse as Pattaya is challenging,” he said. “We have residents and visitors from many regions and countries, which complicates our regulatory efforts.”

Got it sorted here in Ban Dung, Udon Thani. The Amphore is installing new water mains throughout the whole city with their excavators and jack hammers showing no mercy to those intruding onto public land (side walks). The business's are just left with a pile of broken up concrete, tiles and rubble basically isolating their entries.

 

Just awaiting for the PEA & telecoms to come along, after the repairs are complete, to do it again!!! As they do.

A ongoing farce until some real deterrent is forthcoming but as usual the status quo will soon return with the resumption of the padded envelopes exchanging hands.

Anyone who walks on Pattaya footpaths could be be heading for a disability, the pavers in certain areas are really dangerous. I go for a long walk early every morning and in most cases I walk on the road. The worst soi in Pattaya for encroachment must be so Buakaow.

On one hand it is ignorance to place cones chairs etc to reserve there public parking spot,

yet on the other hand it is aggresive behaviour when you are abused for moving them to park.

That's a joke. I pass Pattaya Court every day and the hi-sos are parked on the pavement in their Mercs blocking the path and nothing is done.

A 100k fine for any business doing this would probably stop it.....but we know that's not going to happen so back to business as usual tomorrow. TIT

The thing is also, how many people, even if they want to go to the business blocking the parking, are going to stop, get out and ask the business owner to move the cones/chairs so they park and go inside their shop.....probably not many. So the business owner is losing out to everyone that wants to shop at their place of business. Personally if I see a business doing this I make a point not to shop there, it's city property not the business owners.
