Stuffy nose - is it monsoon or not

Featured Replies

For almost 3 days now my nose has been blocked. I have used various sprays but they do not help.

Anyone else have a similar problem?

    Sounds like a horrible life!

  • with all due respect, show me where the OP seeks medical advice. All i see is them asking others if they are experiencing similar issues.  Which it would seem we are.    I see no point

  • I use saline water and a large syringe. Works pretty well.

In my case it is likely a recent change in my BP medicine. It is listed as a fairly common side effect.

I've had a cold of varying degrees for nearly 5 weeks now and it has sort of gone to my nose now. I also had a very bad cough for about 3 weeks of the cold but it is slowly disappearing. I'm in the rural lower east of Issan.

Hmmmm, yes I have had a stuffy nose the past couple of days. I'll leave it until it interferes with my life before seeking any treatment.

Where are you and how you live.

First I would think of dust in and outside.

Second I think of paint and clothes/material. Also detergents will have an impact.

Also replace your Aircon filters.

A cold for 2 weeks, sore throat, then sneezing, then gets on chest, these thai colds are slow and linger, maybe covid

I use saline water and a large syringe.

Works pretty well.

Time to re-evaluate your reason for having to take BP meds ..ever try not eating carbs, sugar and not drinking alcohol ?

Sometimes I also have that problem. And I have "magic" medicine against it.

The medicine is prescription only and they don't sell it in pharmacies.

So, I suggest, visit a doctor.

The magic part is that if I have that problem and I take one little pill, in 15min the problem is gone for 3 days.

But it's important that I take the pills only if really necessary. Regular use is not a good idea, according to my doctor.

With all due respect why would you seek medical advice on this site?

You don't state where you live but in Chiang Mai you can see a specialist for about 600 baht consultation fee at Chiang Mai Ram and cheaper if you go to a Government Hospital.

Surely your health is worth that amount?

I have had the same thing, mild sinus issues, and late-in-the-day sinus headaches ever since the weather turned <deleted>e.

I see no point in going to a doctor and likely receiving an unnecessary course of antibiotics for something that seems to be a temporary seasonal irritation.

Ok, just for you. Home made by me for me - and my gf also likes it.

Beautiful, but how does it cure a stuffy nose?

Do you have to poke it up with chop-sticks?

Egg noodles or wheat flour fettuccini / linguini pasta ?

I'm off most wheat flour, almost, and lean toward egg or veggie/egg noodles.  Added protein helps cut the carb load.

Don't over use the sprays, that can make it worse, try a course of "Tiffy" , but be aware they make you very drowsy

Decongestant nasal sprays and drops should not be used for more than a week at a time because using them for too long can make your stuffiness worse

If he is not seeking medical advice what is he seeking?

A blocked nose and sprays don't work sounds like a problem to me.

And for sore throat the white Tiger Balm solve it in1-2 days!!!
The red Tiger Balm helps better but is so strong that the skin at the throat peels out.
