Expats in Thailand urged not to worry about negative income tax

Pattaya — Two Thai women were arrested for creating fake Facebook pages to scam tourists out of deposits for luxury resort bookings in Pattaya.

The suspects, identified only as Ms. Hattaya, 30, and Ms. Sirilak, 27, were arrested by Tourist Police at their residences in Chonburi and Samut Prakan provinces. Both face charges of “Fraud by entering false information into a computer system.”

According to police, the suspects created fake Facebook pages for a high-end resort on Koh Larn, Pattaya, to scam tourists into paying deposits for room bookings. Once the victims transferred the money, the suspects blocked them on Facebook and looked for new targets.

You just got to get the other hundreds of scammers out there now. 

 

Anyway, you'd have to be a complete idiot to send money to any Facebook account or similar, without receiving your item first.

If you are going to buy online, off these websites, visit the vendor, take your item and pay in cash.

Yeah, but unfortunately many Thais use FB for their shopping without concern that they could be scammed. They feel like they are dealing with checked and proven vendors on a personal level.

It´s just amazing how stupid people are. It´s well known that Facebook is used for all kinds of illicit and illegal purposes. it´s also well known, that if the price sounds too good to be true, it surely is. Still people who wants to book hotels and resorts can´t bother to use reliable platforms or the company website.

 

It´s also fantastic that Facebook is allowed to continue running their platform the way they do, without proper protection and needed security systems that protect their users. Same with shopping platforms Lazada and Shopee, that are allowed to make business without thorough checks of their sellers. It´s so easy today to get away from all responsibility by writing terms and conditions that only implicate the sellers or users and give the people earning money behind the platforms full freedom to continue.
