One thing is very good, BTS works great! Metro too, but didn't try. I wanted to ride 'n see the city. Now it's done.

I recommend all to come, try all BTS routes and see this Babylon.

try it on a pushbike and you see even more......good luck 'heading north'

" I was told. Not many tourist at all. "  ... :cheesy:

I think someone needs to talk to different people, or at least, open ones eyes.    Leave the expat ghetto, and hop on the BTS/MRT, and maybe pop into some of the malls and markets.

On Nut ... :cheesy:

That's what I did. I lived among locals and talked and saw how they live.

That's what I always do.

Not posting some magazine articles or Tourist facts.

I'm not a tourist. I live my life exploring.

Then you need to go have your eyes check, as BKK is packed with tourist, and TBH, I stopped reading when I got to that part.

I live rural in TH, and have for 24 yrs, so I'm fairly tuned in to the locals and their lifestyle.  But get O&A enough to know, plenty of tourist in BKK, since we visit our daughter there quite often.

Have lived in Pattaya 2 years,

Have lived in BKK 3 years,

Lived in Korat for 6 years now,  I compair the living here, ( Korat ) people, price and lifestyle to my home town in USA....EXCEPT friendler, safer and less expensive for a quality life, and LESS stress.

I will take Pattaya over Bangkok any day, you mention cheap hotels?? Not in the lower Sukhumvit area, they closed during the Chinese virus and never opened up again.

I miss out on Bangkok now as it will cost me more than twice the price of a hotel of similar standard in Central Pattaya.

Feel free to make your own trip and report.

I red 20 something your postings and found zero positives. Bickering and critical to all.

Covid time probably was the last positive thing in your life?

Asean Now is a great source to all who dare endure outside Pattaya ZIP code.

I like to read first hand reports by fellow members. Travel books always make it too general.

Nobody cares on Jomtien? U r wrong.

Who's gonna take care of needs of women if I don't come?

On Nut is just a small part of Bangkok.

Bangkok not many tourists? A lot more than in Jomtien.

Haven't been in one of the parks by the looks of it.

Cheaper? Go to 3-star Michelin restaurant.

Don't know much about Bangkok, so travel around the city quite a bit longer before giving a review.

The old senile man from up north speaking again clearly, he doesn't even know 4 parts of Bangkok...

Bangkok has rarely changed as of what the OP mentioned indeed; the income and Thai lifestyle has barely changed, the 'inflation' that in reality is very little, is only applied there. In all other places, mainly preying on tourist dollars aside of their farm life, however, try to milk foreigners since 2016 +.

Obviously you do get the same taste of that medicine if you venture down to the commercial tourist wahalla's such as lower sukhumvit etc. But yeah to cut to the point: Bangkok is very attractive nowadays in most areas. It also still has that original Thai feel to it, like it was 5-10 years ago + longer.

Almost anywhere I have bee recently, from Vientiene to Phnom Penh to most places in Thailand, it is all clearly depressing and on the brink of a economic collapse. Only place that seems and is thriving is Vietnam. For BKK (and it's 99% locals), I doubt much changes, in fact, it might even get better if a economic collapse happens, for those with money.

Nightlife same thing: prices of 2-3-4k short time seem to be normal in most cities while it's still 1k in BKK. But Pattaya just as cheap.

I would had chosen jomtien any day above BKK. Used to get guesthouses from 650 a night around soi 7. Even beach front and beach view 2 rooms for 1200 a night including breakfest

Somebody travels eyes open 🙂

My favorite spot, Nha Trang, has lot going on for families too.

Notice NICE beach boulevard w shady trees, wide walk ways etc etc

NO noisy watercraft allowed!

I don't go or use Disney like stuff but nice to see others enjoy:

Haven't seen one Swede yet. Maybe because I don't do bars.

Educated nice Russians and Aussies and Kiwis.

Land Whales are missing.... so no free whale watching like in the US.

Petite pretty bodied Thai-like gals too. Gotta bring "own lunch"....

Sweedes is not that big bar bunnies either, but they moved on early 2000 from Ao Nang and established a few swedish settlements in the area. Nice area, was there early 2000 to for climbing and diving, and lived on a few of the islands in bamboo huts right on the beach.

Working class coming back home from work

You are right. And I like working class gals - not fat 😉Honest, hard working real people.

They move so fast too. Dangerous to follow but great exercise...

Pattaya's lazy moving gals sleep till noon. Then rest till 8pm. Then do all-nighter.
