Trump Sues CBS for $10 Billion Over Alleged Editing in Kamala Harris Interview

Well I have actually read the court filing and anyone who thinks, as was indicated above -- that the value of this lawsuit win or lose -- is that someone in a swing state might learn more about the 'select editing' of the word salad in the interview in question than they might already know, will be disappointed.

And again the word 'salad' in various forms is referenced 11 times in the document.

NB the word 'fraud' does not occur in the complaint. Edited by jerrymahoney

Another frivolous lawsuit by the convicted felon that won't amount to anything, as usual.  Didn't CBS host The Apprentice at one time?  There are supposedly a lot of really ugly out takes of him making an arse of himself on that show.

you dont think they would have done the rounds by now? the media attacks him daily, but nothing of these 'ugly outtakes'

Yep, to you the Media should always show Harris in the best view as possible, even changing what she says to help her and the should always present Trump in the most despicable way that they can.  It is already about 84% of the reporting positive on Harris and 86% negative reporting on Trump.  Not enough slant for you?

The lawsuit does not claim Trump was defamed by the network, said Geoffrey R. Stone, a First Amendment scholar and law professor at the University of Chicago, who reviewed the complaint. Instead, the suit attempts a novel use of a Texas statute that is meant to prevent advertisers from misleading the public about a product being sold — the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Consumer Protection Act.

Stone called it a "misapplication" of the law.

"That statute is about sales — a salesperson can be held liable for stating that a product has certain positive effects when he knows it doesn't," Stone said. "But CBS is not engaged in advertising here."

Well... if the station was trying to sell Harris up for President and deceiving the public by changing her replies for this reason. Then the law applies.

As Judge Haller in My Cousin Vinny might say:

Everything except 'Well' will be stricken from the record.

Trump does an outstanding job of making himself look despicable all by himself…..

Who hasn't he sued?

I struggle to find anything good to say about the greatest grifter the world has ever known, but I guess you got to give it to him for being such an epic employer of lawyers. Bad lawyers of course, and quite often they never get paid, but heck, it's something.

I can think of a lot of his adversaries that should be praying for Trump to win next week.  Because if he's president, he won't have as much spare time to sue the people who have defamed, attacked, and literally incited assassins to shoot at him.

If they can sue $1 billion out of Alex Jones for hurt feelings, what's a bullet to the ear worth?

Perfect analogy.

Ditto - and then as a result of that case, all media organisations are forced to no longer lie and distort things to suit their own political agenda. It is one thing for a person on CNN to make a false claim/lie about Trump in an opinion piece. But this period of time is the 'electiuon cycle' and as such both Trump and Harris have been presenting 'their case' to be elected POTUS to the people. Be it a debate, interviews, rallies or whatever - the candidates are giving the People their credentials to be elected.

They often quote what Trump says out of context (eg. good people on both sides), but it is another thing all together to edit the answer provided by Harris to a direct and specific question.  A question that many people wanted Harris to answer, as she has avoided any real media interviews for softball puff pieces.  IMO the interviewer asked a question that was perhaps too confronting and was not 'vetted' - and Harris responded so badly that the 'behind the scenes' editor/s changed her answer for political reasons.

Hewitt up and left mid interview !He had enough of the opinions & conspiracy theories from the left that purposely left out context !

“Is it me or does it seem like Donald Trump is laying the groundwork for contesting the election,” Post host Jonathan Capehart asked Ruth Marcus, who was appearing with Hewitt as part of the live event. “By claiming that cheating was taking place, but suing Bucks County [Pennsylvania] for alleged irregularities … “

Very typical for one of the most litigious and insecure men in the world. He is NOT a tribute to our gender. Hoping he loses big on Tuesday and then is sent to prison. The world would be a far better place.

Hmm... i doubt it.. It may be better for his personal space and work space.. But the world will be far from better because Harris will be running the US then.. That alone will destroy the world as we know it. She alone will destroy the US and possibly bring the world into WW3.

He sued Bill Maher for millions because Bill said he was the son of an orangutan and in a joke skit Bill said he'd pay 5 million if Trump could prove he wasn't. Trump sued for the 5 million and it was laughed out of court.
