There's many out there. If buying online with useless guarantee I'd buy a brand name. I have an Asus PN51N or something like that. You don't need anything special as you appear to realize. 4Gb RAM might do but I'd get 8 Gb. 256 Gb SSD (preferably m2) is adequate. Don't spend too much, buy another in 3 or 4 years, if not longer.

No Sir, not the dual or quad+ monitor setup - had that stateside, simplifying my approach nowadays. 

 

Not looking for a laptop unless all else fails to thrill like Chiangmai does in spades 😏
 

A small desktop computer with adequate RAM, 2 HDMI ports etc., no monitor required just yet as I have an HDMI cable to connect to a nice large Samsung flat screen TV.  I already have a bluetooth mouse & keyboard

If he is to buy a brand name then best he does it from a mall store or with an outlet. The small shops are not trustworthy and online advertises brand names but if you can not read Thai then many of them are actually saying the parts inside are from the brand name manufacturer. NOt really a brand name and usually will not work properly after a short time. 

If there is an electronics mall in your city like most big cities have. You will find many used computers that will come with limited warranty from the seller.

If the OP's new to Thailand, I'd suggest going to the local computer market and walking around to see what's available 2nd hand  (the prices he posted look like new prices). 

 

If you're accustomed to "back home" where everything on offer is brand new and in a box, you may be in for a pleasant surprise.  You can find a 2nd hand, tested and/or refurbished laptop or desktop, sometimes at a great price.  Even better deals to be had on monitors and such.   Easy to find a nice 24" monitor for around $50.  Look for the shops that have stacks of the same kind of used stuff, because they probably got it from a company that's upgrading, and not from someone selling off their lemon.

 

I'd suggest going to https://www.cpubenchmark.net/ and printing out a page of the CPU speeds to make sure you're not buying an old slug.  Then wander around the computer markets...

You are in Bangkok or Chiang Mai?

The Pantip plaza in Bangkok is now some other type of mall. However they do have many used computers for sale there. I bought one recently for my daughter to watch her videos. There is only one floor i think that is dedicated to computers now. Perhaps, if you are in Bkk you can check there again.

You don't want anyone's used computer.  There are many inexpensive new computers that can be bought either online or via a computer store in CM.  You can go to one of the smaller computer shops, and buy the case, motherboard, processor, and memory that fits your requirements and have them assemble it.  Try Computer Plaza or one of the other shops on the North end of the moat.

Update:

 

the search for a desktop computer in Chiang mai continues  …..  no joy yet.

 

Continuing to use my iphone 15 for charting/trading etc.  Screen too small for real satisfaction/clarity in charting.  Tried an HDMI cable from iphone to TV but the screen data cuts off too often.  Cable is 3-meters & Internet is Verizon stateside.   Shop technician says cable length is not a factor.  Wifi is included in my rental agreement but its iffy.  

 

Panthip Plaza was deserted compared to when I was in LOS last 8 yrs ago.  Just one shop and all he had was a terrible looking Acer 7-yrs old.   No new equipment available.
 

Computer Plaza is next for this week.

I'm in Udon Thani and bought a similar i5 ThinkCentre M700 for 3000 baht from a reseller at Tukcom, our local IT plaza. It came with W10. I replaced the HDD with an SSD, added a Wifi/Bluetooth dongle.

Pantip Plaza used to be my favorite, but I'm not sure it's even there any more.  They shut it down a couple of times to "improve it", long before Covid.  It was slow to come back, and may not have made it in the end.  Maybe someone can update us?

 

Nowadays, my go-to is Fortune Town at MRT Phra Ram 9 station.  Super easy access by MRT.  (Pantip used to be a hike from the BTS, but worth it...)

 

Edit:  For smartphones and tablets, Chinatown and MBK are also great.

😏 yeah for sure I tried this already.  Perhaps your expertise can help me?

 

I bought a 4-meter HDMI cable, bluetooth mouse & keyboard & the USB-C adapter/hub. 
 

Works but too many interruptions in video, gotta keep hitting Play.Told the technician it might be the too long HDMI

cable but he disagreed.

 

Internet too slow is the only other snafu I can think of

Panthip Plaza Chiang Mai as stated earlier is a forlorn form of its former self.  Saddened me to see this.  Damn shame!  A downside for me living in Chiang Mai is that Thai people/businesses are in decline & suffering a BEAR market. Feel sort of guilty for having it relatively eeeeezy
