Filipina's Viral Video Criticising Thai Women Sparks Backlash

Recommended Posts

Neither Nor. Never got a kick out of Thai women whatsoever personnally. Nothing in common with them.  Expat in Thailand  for nearly 10 years now. i date European women, french, spanish mostly (not northern European like brits or german, or US, quite unappealing really). Plenty of them, free, dealing and willing.  But if it works for others, good for them. Cheers

A Filipino Instagram user, under the account name *smartgirlphilippines*, has ignited controversy online after posting a video criticising Thai women in a sweeping comparison to Filipina women.

The video, posted on 5 November, includes remarks portraying Thai women as “easy” and “money-driven” and deems them unsuitable for marriage. The post quickly attracted widespread backlash from Thai netizens.

In her video, she speaks in English, contrasting Filipina women’s supposed virtues with perceived flaws in Thai women. She suggests that men prefer visiting Thailand for its “good food and fast women,” but argues that Filipinas make better life partners.

Her statement went as follows:

> “Thailand is your girlfriend, but the Philippines is your wife. Guys like to go to Thailand for the food and the fast women, but Thai girls don’t speak English.

They’re more transactional, whereas Filipinas speak English, love foreigners, and we’re more relational. Filipinas will treat you like a king and make you happy. You can date Thailand, but you’ll marry the Philippines.”

This video swiftly drew criticism, with many Thai users condemning the post as offensive and stereotypical. Comments poured in, expressing disappointment and anger over her portrayal of Thai women.

Many netizens pointed out the unfair generalisation and condemned the idea of using cultural stereotypes as a basis for relationships.

As the clip continues to spread online, it highlights the tensions that can arise from public generalisations and the cultural sensitivities involved in cross-national relationships. This incident is yet another reminder of the power social media has to both bridge and divide communities, reported Daily News.

I find the high-pitched squawking of the Thai language, which always seems like screaming to me, as more irritating.

I don't. But you've misunderstood the point. "The Thai language" is in a different category from the Taglish being referred to. I also find that accent exceedingly annoying for some reason. Thaiglish is much pleasanter and often really cute. To make matters worse, Filipinas talk too much in that accent.

With the exception of the very well-traveled and very well-off, Philipinas smother you, stalk you  and bleed you dry. They will take any chance to get their hooks into you and pin you down -- never believe a girl who tells you she is on the pill and check the condom for holes.

The only exceptions are the very well-traveled and well-off folk who spend as much of their time abroad as at home.

Lower-income, lower-educated girls from the provinces are horrific.

You can keep them and their unsightly facial moles.

then there is that accent, nothing grates on my patients more than a Philipino (male or female) calling me sir or pretending that the Taglish they spew is the same as speaking English.

she makes my skin crawl, irritating stick insect that she is.

Same here. I worked with many men and women from PI.

For those of us who have thick skin and high self-esteem it is very hard to get offended, we get offended because we choose to get offended, we get offended because we choose to be victims. Who cares what this woman thinks? Who cares what she says? She is just another talking head with an opinion.

Many of us happen to prefer Thailand and Thai women, for a dozen good reasons. For me the Philippines reminds me of one enormous Tijuana, with really, really bad food.

You cant take an hour drive and be back in civilization however.

Never give a filipina an excuse to get jealous.  They can become very unhinged and a pain to live with.

I couldn't even thank a checkout operator without many questions being asked later.

Either you put up with it or get out as fast as you can.  8 months and I ran as fast as I could.

No regrets

Jealous women every country. That happens when you handsome man.😀

I'm English, but had the same response when I got involved with an Englishwoman.

Got out as fast as I could, especially when I realised she had a family history of mental illness (Only discovered too late)

Her mother died locked up in a mental hospital (Springfield) in London where she'd been for almost 30 years.  That did it, I sprouted wings.

To be fair, that lady has posted quite a few videos criticising Phillipino women and giving advice to western men on how to avoid relationship pitfalls with these women. Basically it seems to boil down to making clear who is the boss and not indulging your gf in her tricks and manipulations..

These days I'm more interested in a good meal rather than getting my balls wet so I'll happily stick with Thailand over the Philippines.

Absolutely correct, Filipina's have a tendency towards mental illness. My ex told me after I left her alone for 2 weeks she had dreams of demons possessing her.

She was also WAY WAY WAYYYYY  more transactional than any Thai girl I've ever met, demanding outrageous "allowance".

If you wife up a Filipina you're in a for a world of pain, usually.

Like the balot, and century egg. But I agree with you. She's right about a relatively small demographic of Thai women, mostly the bar girls, And a few from the mainstream, but when you're out in the general public the percentage of them is low.

6 of one, half dozen of another. Same same but different.

Not at all correct in Thailand things don't work out you simply walk away, in the Philippines if things don't work out it is a nightmare. Divorce in the Philippines is a dark ride into hell.

I couldn’t agree more, especially the food uurrhhgg!!

I think you have to get outside of the Philippines to truly understand that, for me it's some of the worst food on the planet outside of Cuba. And I'm not talking about Cuban food in Miami and I'm not talking about Philippine food in Los Angeles. I'm talking about local food in the PI, and in Cuba. I would almost rather eat grass, tree bark, or dirt.

When you add in the Catholicism aspect of marriage, and divorce, and the fact that the entire country feels like one big ghetto, it's very easy for me to say no thanks.
