On 6 November 2024, Kanchanaburi Immigration Police intensified efforts to crack down on illegal migration under the guidance of Pol. Maj. Gen. Itthipol Itthisarnronnachai, Commander of the Immigration Bureau, and Pol. Lt. Gen. Kittirat Panpetch, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police.

This action aligns with national policies aimed at controlling illegal entries.

Kanchanaburi’s Immigration Police, led by Pol. Col. Korn Somkanay and Deputy Pol. Lt. Col. Trin Thawat Panyathorn, dispatched teams headed by Pol. Capt. Methee Teerasawat to conduct a coordinated sweep of migrant work camps and other targeted areas where undocumented individuals were reported to reside.

This operation was carried out in collaboration with various law enforcement agencies to enforce the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 and related laws.

The operation yielded significant results, with 13 individuals arrested for illegal entry. Additionally, one person was detained for harbouring undocumented migrants, and eight others faced fines under Section 38 of the Immigration Act, which mandates reporting of foreign residents.

Two further fines were issued under Section 37 for non-compliance with residence requirements.

Kanchanaburi Immigration Police have reiterated their commitment to upholding the nation’s immigration laws, ensuring stricter checks at critical points and monitoring migrant communities to prevent further unlawful entry, reported Daily News.
