The  assumption that Canadians are not Trump types is a myth that will soon be blown apart, when there is an election in Canada within the coming year. The Conservative party is on track to achieve a massive majority victory. Canadians are furious with the  government for allowing 5 million "temporary" Canadians to live in Canada creating  a housing and access to medical care crisis. There is a growing position that is very similar to the Republican demands to  close the border and to deport people. Many of the same issues that drove Americans to vote Republican are churning in Canada. The USA might soon be more progressive than Canada on some issues.

Please look closely at the actual results in the Swing states. The Republican victory was razor thin. These states will swing again in 2 years if the Republicans do not deliver quickly.

When I look at the swing states I see RED. Accept it.

Seems you have forgotten that a question has a question mark. Otherwise it's a statement or rhetorical. Silly emojis that you can't help using don't suffice for a question mark.

The short answer is I describe myself in positive terms: Im 67 years old,  an artist and rock and roll music performer, and entertainer. My purpose in life is to put smiles on people's faces. Literally. I am not defined by what is happening in the US right now. As to MAGA, I refuse to discuss it. Period. I change the subject or walk away. It's nobody's business but mine. It's the same as though someone asked me about a tragic event. "Say, tell me about that shark attack when you lost both legs".  Would you ask someone who was raped to talk about it? I don't want to talk or think about the subject, it's too disturbing and I refuse. It's the same with everyone I know personally from facebook friends to my own brother. That's more than 500 Americans that I know personally who are in my age group.  I came of age during the Vietnam war and managed to escape that with my life.  My father served in WWII. Those values, the values of "the greatest generation",  1940 to 1960, are the values I grew up with and hold dear. We are now grieving for those values, for democracy. For the next 4 years I'm going to try with all of my might to keep the subject out of my mind and stick to positive thoughts and positive energy. Any discussion about this cannot end in a good place. Even if the foregoing were not the case there would be no point - most people here haven't a clue about what has really happened because they have never lived there, they haven't watched the decades long process of the erosion of democracy and the consolidation of wealth and power in the US. It's not a matter of "do you like the guy or not". Anyone who simplifies it to such a shallow level cannot be communicated with on the subject. There's a lot of people who thought Hitler was an OK guy before 1939. Just because we haven't yet experienced a holocaust of that magnitude yet, it doesn't change the agenda and likely outcome which is now moving forward. You may not see 6 million bodies, but this begins with a guy who was convicted of 34 felonies, found liable for sexual assault and for financial crimes and penalties in excess of 450 million dollars. These are facts, irrefutable. Anyone who thinks this isn't true had better start running as fast as they can in the opposite direction from me. Now that Trump has the power he will make all of his crimes go away. He will free all of those convicted of a violent assault  at his beckoning on the US Capitol. On his to do list one of the first things will be withdrawal from NATO.  How will you like that? He almost did it last time, or weren't you paying attention? No more alliances unless they have been bought and paid for. Mark my words. Support for Ukraine will be cut off. If Putin invades Poland no one in the new administration will care. I kid you not. These are promises that have already been made and there is no debate about it. My bottom line is my views and feelings are discussed only with people I know well enough for there to be a sensible and productive dialog. And those conversations will be few and far between. There are enough positive subjects for people to celebrate life and move forward. The reason I moved to Thailand is specifically to be as far away from that hot mess dumpster fire of the US as possible. Out of the reach of reprehensible people that I cannot otherwise get away from. Racists accosting me in grocery store parking lots, shootings next door to my house. And my advice is, don't EVER bring MAGA up with an American unless they bring it up first. You’ll be rubbing salt into deep wounds. Have a little respect for our loss of something dear to our hearts.

you n JT should get a room and hug it out.

Nah! I can't ignore the entertainment @transam provides. As for entertainment go watch some of these woke lefties having meltdowns. It's like an insanity virus has spread through the left.

Then we have you, not answering my question, seems to be a Trump trait, that went along with his lies.

But never mind, pointing it out, your shortfall, is noted by all............🤗

I am Canadian. I came out of Regina. It works every time. Stops the political dialogue.

Right now that political dialogue is extremely tiresome because it's either my conservative friends gloating about the victory, and telling me how what a noble human being Trump is, or it's my Democrat friends refusing to admit that the party and the candidate was directly responsible for the defeat.

Either way it's very tiresome and the Canadian thing just shuts up strangers.

Here is the question again, you can add as many question marks as you like, just answer it...........😉

????????. Go for it, don't keep dodging.........

Here's my answer and I can answer in one word and I don't have to say "I was brought up in a middle class family." Answer to the question in one word is .................... American.

I interact with so few foreigners where I live in Thailand, pretty much a non-issue here.

But my heart grows heavy thinking about what it must feel like to be a non-native English speaker, immigrant, or black, brown or yellow person in America post election. I imagine America is a land of averted gazes these days.

Yellow?  sounds a bit racist, it's not 1970's you know.

why would anyone of any colour be worried post election? oh, you mean the nazi concentration camps trumpo will create, i forgot about those.

Please look closely at the actual results in the blue states and urban areas.

The vote swings from 2020 are pretty phenomenal.

People don’t expect miracles. If he gets the border cleared up, Biden’s Title IV changes reversed, and the tips & SS tax cuts done, Israel resolved (easy) and Ukraine (more difficult) we’ll be good.

The middle class and working poor in the US have gotten pretty sick of the whole racism nonsense the left stirs up, and they are sick of abortion, trans idiocy and DEI as well.

I am begging the left here to keep pushing these things issues, at least through the midterms, but hopefully for another ten or twenty years.

Have the “journalists” Trump’s going to lock up put their mansions on the market yet? They only have few months to flee the country.

Maybe Cuba? Gaza? Iran? The choices are endless.

I think you are being sarcastic with this comment about @Walker88 's post. If you were being sincere, please accept my apologies. I would just like to point out to you that in my humble opinion it would be next to impossible to develop the writing skills Walker88 regularly displays on this forum without having had an extensive work experience which allowed him to develop and hone those writing skills. While I too am amazed by his claims to have been a counter-intelligence analyst as well as a hedge fund manager, he so far has not gotten out on such thin ice that it has caused me to question the veracity of the biography he has disclosed on this forum. I think your and other's attempts to discount his opinions as those of some yarn spinning Walter Mitty are misguided, and again, it is my belief that his writing skills reflect a level of intelligence and experience which deserve to be respected even if you happen not to share his political perspective.

First I want to congratulate you on your keen ability to detect sarcastic. The man whom you seek is a ginormous blow hard. I do find humor in his words though.

In all honesty, being from Asia, I had never heard the term...MAGA...until less than 3 weeks ago.

I dislike dumb acronyms that are not acronyms, technically, that oversimplify.

MAGA-hats are only fit to fit those with Pea Brains.

I did not vote for Trump.

But....so FING Glad that the Salad-Woman is OUT.

In fact....

I'm Glad, I'm Glad, I'm GLAD.......!

I am so Glad that I am Royal-Albert-Hall GLAD....!!!

The mistake Biden made was holding Israel back , the war would have been over by now and all the hostages freed if Biden didn't stop Israel fighting the terrorists

Do you not have one of the blue bracelets I’m hearing about?

Why not just get Obama’s face tattooed on your forearm?

Because he already has a full sleeve of these two jokers.

The one on the right was fired from the administration after being caught multiple times stealing women's luggage. No doubt a creepy fetish there 🤣
