I'm at Pratamnak and can't find fresh mixed salads from street vendors. I hate to buy all separately and waste more than I can eat.

I don't want to go Big-C etc. It's a shame we don't have a good Supermarket! It'd be a big money maker.

Anyone knows who has it?

Do they have street vendors with fresh salad where you are from? Why not stop being so lazy and do as you said go to a Big C, Tops,  or a Foodland and make yourself up a couple of nice salads from their salad bars? So easy.

You can buy the fresh ingredients and wrap them in paper towels then inside plastic bags.

The veggies will keep until you use them for salad.  I have been doing this for years.  Yes, paper towels can be costly, but beats frequent trips to the market.

I never take "Death Gage" taxi.... Or motobike bone crusher.

I walk but not that far.

Pls - read the Q and answer only if you can

I don't think the OP wants to spend more than 35 baht.  And 100gr just isn't going hold him/her/it over too long.

To be fair, I wouldn't either.  Only time I hit their salad bars, is when I'm creating a sandwich, and I'll get the roasted peppers & mushrooms, to add to my cold cuts on a Ciabatta masterpiece, when dining in the food court.

Usually turns out to be a damn expensive meal, but tasty.

Where you keep them? In fridz or room temp?

- Your idea sounds good, Thx.

Tops in Central Festival the Beach  may be "expensive"

It is pricey but the quality and selection is superior to the other options.

I walked today and asked many vendors. "No have", "No can"

Then got lucky: An old lady, maybe 90, agreed to sell mixed bag for 30THB/kg. I bought 2kg. 60THB - great deal.

I'll be going back to her. Very happy!

I tried that place last time I shopped there.  Not bad at all, and I didn't think it was too expensive.

They've totally rearranged that store, in case anyone doesn't know.  Be prepared to spend some time getting used to the new layout.

So according to your earlier statement, she's onto a big money maker. 😊

Does Grab not deliver Salads ????

....  or is it considered too expensive to order 'just a Greek Salad' for example...

At a 30 baht a kg budget, I don't think the OP is going to be ordering a Greek Salad. Cannot imagine what is in the salad to make it so heavy.

Check 7/11's. I get the Caesar Salad clear box with a small Caesar dressing package, 8 small croutons and small amount of chicken. No parmeson grated cheese but you can buy that separately at like Villa Market or Tops Online..

There are other kinds of salads. Various lettuce cuts are fresh. Cost is 50 baht. Maybe not at all 7/11's.

Pity they are not that close to Pratumnak!

7/11's usually have boxed salads - Caesar, Salmon fillet and a 'crab' stick salad. Some have a boxed mixed salad - lettuce, tomato shredded purple cabbage and shredded carrot. Some also have bags of mixed lettuce leaves.

I'm surprised how many are eating salads packed in plastic! And buying from7/11 etc...

Not me! Never in any country.

Not even over priced supermarkets are good. An other day I went to Tops to get New Zealand "Envy" brand apples (I got the hint here) , my favorite. All had dull skin. Old stuff for 34 B/kg. No thanks.

Thailand has everything available fresh for much low price.

I agree on the 7/11 Chicken Caesar Salad. The dressing tastes like Caesar, ie no Thai sweetness. As far as the lack of chicken breast, I always buy an individually-packaged cooked breast, like this:

(or 2), heat each in microwave for 40 seconds, dice, and add to the Caesar. Good for protein.

I've tried the similar packaged breast, ie the chili, or lemon flavor but it's a bit off for me.

Of course, if you're on a budget, adding extra chicken at around 50฿ each might put you off.

You wouldn't want to waste it,how do you think the vendors feel.Salad is not easy to keep fresh in this climate.

You cannot have your cake and eat it. See Foodmart, which is closest do you most likely, or Friendship. If that is too expensive or too far away, then you eat salads in variations with chicken or tuna. Fresh salads from the market last easily a few days.

If that is not possible either - just forget about salads then!

Be careful what you wish for. Uncooked stuff on the street is a hub for pathogens. Glad there isn’t any. Furthermore street food is primarily targeted at the locals. They don’t eat this kind of stuff regularly.

I've been eating street food last 6 years. No problem, so far.

However, I got violently sick from green cabbage in Khon Kaen. I didn't wash well.

My Thai gf said "they use raw sewage" sometimes... That's scary. Must wash and remove 2-3 layers.

At the 7/11 where I shop, in the salad area are packages of US silver dollar-sized cooked 5-6 chicken pieces much less than 50 baht. Cut in half for two more salads.
