The biggest fraud is implementing a system where the UK Government can treat its pensioners unfairly based on where they live even though they have all contributed the same.

which I have shown you from credible links.

Your link was from 2016 and far from credible. The government wants people to believe the "state pension" is a single entity and you have fallen for it.

It may come as a suprprise to you but the injustice from previous years has not been wiped out by the changes in 2016.

Those that contracted out get the proceeds from their second state pension NI contributions paid out as part of an occupational or private pension, index linked world wide. They do not want to acknowledge the discrimination that was perpretrated by that arrangement.

Everyone is perfectly free to support the discrimination, but the hypocrisy lies in denying it.

Every year the politicians attend memorials or stand in parliament and express their eternal praise and gratitude for the armed forces.

Every year those same politicians vote to deny some miltary veterans uprating on all the pension components of their state pension.

Anyone who would attempt to ridicule the situation should be hanging their head in shame.

So, what's that to do with me or the crack-down on fraudsters thread......

Start your own thread chap, on the subject................:coffee1:

My friend from Manchester said that the British government is setting up an online portal in Thailand so people can rat out UK pension "cheats".  There might even be financial incentives, and you don't have to be from the UK to collect them.

To be honest (officially )  I did quite well on the SERPS and graduated pensions add on, think it upped the OAP by a third
Its  stated time after time their "crackdown" is on UC and means tested benefits, nothing about so called fraud, if ever there was a fraud on OAP.    Yes thankfully its going to bite, can see place like Bradford, Blackburn, Rotherham being decimated

I think the compounding on unfrozen pensions is wonderful, or not so with AN Other    Imagine 10, 11 ,12 years here and saying goodbye to TH. The unfrozen gets a brown envelope ,sack more than likely, on exit from TH with £30,000 in it,   frozen get an empty fag packet

Put this up in another thread, still the same vein tho

If a OAP lives permanently in frozen country and receives unfrozen pension   is that fraud?
Copilot
If an OAP (Old Age Pensioner) resides permanently in a frozen country and receives an unfrozen pension, it is not inherently fraudulent. Let me explain:     DWP will not answer, but A1 will

"Has anybody ever been sanctioned/punished for receiving OAP in frozen countries?
Copilot
As of my last knowledge update, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in the UK has not prosecuted nor sanctioned individuals for receiving an unfrozen Old Age Pension (OAP). However, there have been instances where the DWP identified underpayments and took corrective action.

Here’s some context:

State Pension Underpayments Investigation:
In 2020, the DWP became aware of married, widowed, and over-80 individuals who had not received their State Pension increases as required by law.

25 pence extra when hitting 80
Not only but also  OAP is not sanctionable/punishable and a disqualifying benefit    untouchable

There are actually several types of benefits in the UK, and they can be broadly categorized into two main types:

  1. Contributory Benefits: These are based on National Insurance (NI) contributions. Examples include:

    • State Pension: Payment made to those who have reached State Pension age and have enough NI contributions.

    • Contribution-Based Employment and Support Allowance (ESA): For people who are unable to work due to illness or disability, based on NI contributions.

    • Bereavement Support Payment: Provided to the spouses, civil partners, or dependents of deceased contributors.

  2. Non-Contributory Benefits: These are not based on NI contributions and are often means-tested, considering the individual's income and savings. Examples include:

    • Universal Credit: For individuals on a low income or out of work.

    • Housing Benefit: To help with rent payments.

    • Pension Credit: For pensioners on a low income.

    • Income Support: For those on a low income who are not required to look for work.

    • Disability Living Allowance (DLA)/Personal Independence Payment (PIP): Financial support for those with disabilities.

These benefits are designed to provide financial support for different needs and circumstances. If you have any specific questions about a particular benefit, feel free to ask!

Bob....be honest....you aint got friends anywhere.

They should go after tax dogging corporations and the mega-wealthy - they are real fraudsters

It is reported that up to 350,000 people in the Birmingham area are set to lose their benefits, having been transitioned to Universal Credit. Unfortunately, they are unable to access the necessary paperwork due to language barriers. What a damned shame

Met another grumpy Brit who was whinging about foreigners about foreigners coming to the UK, taking all the jobs at the same time also claiming all the money benefits (it made sense to him). I then asked him what he was up to this weekend for the fireworks, he tells he's going to Manila as he's registered his address there.

Shocking.

Nothing but scamming the system. Anyone caught doing this should have their pensions shut down.

Indeed. Some have become fixated on the 2016 reforms that turned the state pension into a single tier arrangement. They seem to think the previous years also became a single tier arrangement under those reforms.

Following the 1975 pension reforms the politicians had allowed themselves and a selct part of the population to take money that should have gone to the national insurance fund and put it into their own workplace pensions. I doubt it was coincidence that this came at a time the UK was experiencing the highest inflation rates in it's history. The arrangement quickly came to an end when investment returns became much lower, with the government issuing the COPE guarantee.

Those that opted out of the government additional state pension scheme are now receiving their additional state pension as part of an NI enhanced workplace or private pension,  which is effectively indexed linked worldwide and for some protected by the DTA.

Your comment that you did quite well from SERPS is a bit speculative. The government has never revealed how much individuals paid into the additional pension schemes so no way of knowing how it compared to the returns of a private scheme.

In 1988 when contracting out was widened to greater part of the population the government even started bribing people with taxpayers money to opt out the additional state pension scheme.

Until 1988, people could only contract out if they were members of a defined benefit (DB) occupational pension scheme. In 1988, the government extended this to defined contribution (DC) or money purchase occupational schemes and personal pensions.

For the first five years of the scheme, the government paid an extra 2% of your earnings into your personal pension. By 1992, more than 5 million people had left Serps for a personal pension. https://www.which.co.uk/money/pensions-and-retirement/state-pension/what-was-contracting-out-ascMg4t2I7Hk

In a digital world with more and more connectivity between Government institutions like customs and benefits, combined with Artificial Intelligence, it is going to be much more difficult to claim a pension in the UK whilst living in Thailand. At some point they will catch up with you.

They will run a programme that searches for people who have left the UK and not returned (or have been away long enough to be non resident)  and compare that to people claiming UK pension as a resident of the UK. The you will get a "nudge" letter asking you to explain yourself.

Only a matter of time.

You think. Been saying this since  the  thread was formed ,was it 2012?  .Its a contributed pension, not means tested.

Could leave the UK and travel anywhere EU  US anywhere, and they DWP can nudge all they want (they wont)  Its a non sanctionable, disqualifying benefit       Other means tested benefits definitely, but Id look be looking at the loss   ,yes 8.8% is a bit high to judge by but its a loss with compounding something like £82000 over something like 16 years

And these old sods sit there whinging about foreigners gaming the system, when they are doing the same exact thing.

Racists is all they are.

Yes nearly every one of them Donnie

About time they embraced the diversity & culture of the aspects of migration and got over their Islamophobia

I agree those quaint english villages must be used for immigration
