That means he would be without the use of a VPN UNTIL and IF the company ever makes a new offer, and should he decide to use a new email address to make a new account, how will he pay? 

 

They are not that stupid that they do not cross reference payment details.  I suppose he could use his spouse's card, or a friend or family's card, maybe even anonymous crypto, but what a tangled web one would weave in order to save a lousy 60 baht a month. 

 

It pays to look at the bigger picture.

They are useful for the "hub of porn" and for other geo-blocked sites.  There is no such thing as true privacy but then again the average VPN user isn't an international criminal or terrorist so they don't have much to worry about.  Most if not all VPN services are likely either backed by the CIA or some other intelligence service or otherwise knowingly or unknowingly have their infrastructure totally compromised by intelligence services or cave in to pressure from them.  So in other words if any Aseannow members are pedos and think a VPN is protecting them they are living on borrowed time.

On PIA's website it shows the price as being $39.95 for one year or $79 for 40 months.   I know you said that you don't want to commit to longer than a year but I think that I'd just fork over the $79  and not worry about it again until 2028.

Anyone knows\uses a VPN that supports WiFi calling?

A couple of years ago I changed to cyber ghost (can't remember which one I used before) but unfortunately they don't support it. I read somewhere that experts VPN does and I was willing to pay an extra $4 per month, but a chat with their rep made it clear they don't. I also checked with Nord and they also don't support it. It is strange as I can make WhatsApp calls while connected to the VPN, yet can't make calls using an overseas sim as the companies overseas block it...

 Is it really necessary to have a VPN at all if you are not into porn, not a Pedo, and do not want anyone to know you are emailing from Thailand? I use the Opera VPN only for pirating.

Agreed, or just deactivate auto-renewal before the renewal date.  When I did this with Bitdefender two weeks ago I was immediately offered a 50% subscription discount to resume auto-renewal.

The experience I had with Opera recently was that they offered VPN for payment, there would also be a free version but with that I was told, if I wanted to have a connection in Europe, it was not available.
But it must be cheating, because on my old computer with an older version of Opera, it worked.

The speed can vary a lot depending which country you connect to. My default connection destination is Singapore for general day to day stuff because that gives me the fastest speeds and is very stable/reliable. The PC I ran the test on is connected to the router by ethernet cable.

' I second that emotion' 😉 not only is the base Proton free, but the proton email address is VITAL to me. CIBC Canada (and other security conscious companies) require you to have an encrypted email account - in order to receive the security code for international bank transfers.
