Chonburi Immigration Police, in collaboration with local labour authorities and military personnel, conducted a raid targeting illegal migrant workers in Pattaya, uncovering violations of immigration laws and labour regulations.

 

On November 21, Pol. Col. Napaspong Khositsuriyamanee, head of the Chonburi Immigration Office, led the operation alongside Chonburi Provincial Labour Office head Chalermphon Niamsakul and Capt. Prasert Somcharoen, leader of the Chonburi Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) team. Two locations in Pattaya were targeted in the operation.

 

The first raid took place at a hotel on South Pattaya’s Third Road, following intelligence that it was housing a large number of illegal migrant workers. Authorities inspected more than 50 rooms, discovering over 100 foreign nationals, mostly from India and Myanmar, attempting to hide in bathrooms and on balconies.

 

During the chaos, some individuals fled into the nearby forest behind the hotel. Police managed to apprehend a Myanmar couple who confessed to entering Thailand illegally. Further passport and visa inspections revealed 14 violations involving individuals from Myanmar, Cambodia, and India. These individuals failed to report their residence addresses and were detained for legal action.

 

The second operation targeted illegal labour practices. Two Myanmar nationals were arrested while working as car wash attendants at a gas station in South Pattaya.

 

In a subsequent inspection of a market near Wat Chaimongkol, a Lao woman was arrested at a store selling religious items. Additionally, a stateless man, identified as a motorbike taxi driver, was detained outside the market.

 

The operation highlights ongoing efforts to curb illegal immigration and prevent migrant workers from taking jobs that could otherwise be filled by Thai nationals.

Obviously the Thais don’t want the pay that goes with these jobs or are just lazy. Send the Indians packing and keep the rest and make sure that the employers are punished hard if they don’t register them. The poor workers are the only ones suffering.

So, a Myanmar couple who confessed. 14 tm30 violations. And 2 Burmese working at a car wash. That's utterly pathetic.. just jobs for the boys. Cracking down? And military personnel? All so the brass get their names in the papers.

Usually not. However, they are expected to negotiate the release of their employees and foot any bills.

Like contruction jobs?  hahaha they don't want threse jobs, they're simply to lazy.

Those in uniform who at least turn a blind eye or connive with those at the border entering illegally should also be brought to account.

Why is there no freedom of movement in ASEAN? Why is it necessary to enter the country illegally? Can't they get passes? I thought the Cambodians all got them.
