At approximately 02:10, on November 28, Pattaya City Police received a report of a motorcycle crash involving a collision with a parked van, resulting in injuries.

The incident occurred on Pattaya Third Road in North Pattaya, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. Upon receiving the report, police officers coordinated with Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Volunteers to provide assistance at the scene.

At the site of the accident, a Yamaha Scoopy motorcycle, license plate from Chonburi, was found damaged after colliding with the rear of a parked van. The motorcycle’s rider, identified as 18-year-old Ms. Phattharaporn, suffered a head laceration, a dislocated right elbow, and abrasions across her body. Rescue personnel administered first aid before transporting her to Bang Lamung Hospital for further treatment.

According to the injured rider, she was driving back to her residence while using her phone when she lost control of her vehicle, causing it to crash into the stationary van.

The investigation of the incident is ongoing, with police waiting results of tests for alcohol or drugs.

Right elbow injured, the phone will have to be in her left hand next time.

I see so may on motorbikes riding one handed, using the other to operate a phone.... had one pop around a bend on my side very recently.

They shouldn't need to be told that is dangerous.

(Quite a contrast to UK where using your phone even while stationary, driving a car, can get you six points).

I am surprised that there aren't more accidents with delivery bikes and Grab bikes.

The riders are always looking at their phones whilst looking for their destination.

No sympathy.

If my phone rings while I am driving, I try to pull over to the side of the road to answer the call.   If I cannot, I shall call back.

Simple.

Well they do at least seem to mostly have phone holders on the handlebars and hence have 2 hands for controlling the bikes.

The difference is, the UK Force police the roads.  Here they only appear after the event.

It must have been a very important phone call. Enjoy the hospital visit

Watched a guy yesterday on a Big Bike with a smartphone between his ear and his should driving down the road, NUTS! But the worst I've ever seen was a man with no helmet and holding a small brown bottle of something and a cigarette in his left hand, in the other he was working the throttle while holding his smartphone. I just assume all Thai's have a death wish, I just don't want to be their executioner.

Wow. You personification of perfection, just like every other AN poster, no doubt!

Some off topic comments about the gender of the person in the picture have been removed. The picture was taken at the scene and the details reported correctly. This is the news section about a motorcycle crash, not for troll comments on how someone chooses to dress or look.

I go a step further than the other poster, I ignore all calls, and use the fact that I am driving (or not) as an excuse 😉

Nice job...

It is sick to watch people on their bikes with a phone in their hand! What is wrong with their brains!!! Do they actually have one!!?? If so, it certainly does not function well....

ANF Driving Instructors have long warned Thais not to use phones while driving. Here we have the inevitable results of ignoring that advice. Lesson learned.

No news how the phone is doing. I hope it is still usable.

Lesson learned?  Highly unlikely!

I even leave the phone at home.

Serves her right for letting the bike use her phone.

Motorcycles are not the brightest lot, until they catch on fire of course.
