Where is the bottleneck...generally.....when downloading? 

 

It crossed my mind that we are sold faster and faster speeds, but can the servers we connect to transfer data at those speeds??

Yes, we are sold faster and faster speeds, but that does not guarantee we get that max speed always.

Good insight.

Most servers can't and won't deliver unlimited speeds. You are not alone on the net so load balancing limits.

The fastest ever seen was about 800 Mbit/s for an installation media download from Microsoft. Obviously mirrored/cached in Thailand.

Fast Downloads that I see are about 300 Mbit/s.

For most interactive use like streaming/video watching speeds above 50 are irrelevant anyway.

In addition to having the stable bandwidth coming in both the router and the connected device (computer, tablet or phone) must also be WiFi 7 capable to get the full benefits... I would say it's not worth the extra effort...
