VPN IP Addresses Flagged For Abuse - This has been a problem

Featured Replies

I was recently blocked from joining a music forum because my IP address was flagged as malicious by StopForumSpam.  I got it cleared up with the forum administrators, but then I've started seriously looking at my VPN provider IP address reputation using AbuseIPDB - and I'm just floored.  I've connected to a bunch of different regions offered by my VPN provider and they all have been flagged a "abusive" with many flagged from "Brute Force", DDOS, and port scanning.  That isn't good.

If you have a VPN service, try checking your IP addresses from your VPN provider against the AbuseIPDB database (https://www.abuseipdb.com).  I'm trying to find a provider with high reputation and the least number of abuse reports.  That's very difficult to find via an online search.  If you VPN provide provides clean IP, let me know who you are using.  I'm going to want to change my VPN provider before my subscription expires.  This sucks.

Currently using VPN with Proton from Malaysia.

Have checked with abuse and no problem.

Have been using Proton for over a year with no issues.

I have some doubt about the relevance of this abuse website.

My dynamic 3BB fixed line address has two entries from 2022 and 2021.

Both based on reports by some website/forum operator.

For a VPN it is crystal clear that you will get an IP address that is/has been shared by many.

I tried some other blacklist check (https://whatismyipaddress.com/blacklist-check ).

This lists the results of 60(!) blacklist checking sites and I get 60 green marks.

Just tried an arbitrary US VPN address provided by NordVPN.

No reports.

You hesitate to name your VPN provider?

For serious stuff from my last/home country I spent the extra money for a dedicated IP address (my address for two years). No reports.

Blame Thai defamation laws.  Want to know - PM me.

I got a dedicated IP address and my bank froze my account when I used it.  Go figure.  I'll be cancelled that before renewal.
I went around and around with the provider.  They wouldn't exchange the Dedicated IP for a new one.  That's how you lose business.

The many bad reviews that are displayed on the internet and you're concerned about giving the name of your provider.

That did make my laugh.
