Grandmother Reports Kidnapping, But Child Was Taken by His Father for Songkran Festival
This case serves as a reminder that unmarried father do not have any parental authority in Thailand unless they go to court or have a registration from the amphur according to sections. 1546 and 1547 of the civil code. It shows the need for clear legal agreements and communication in custody arrangements to prevent such incidents. It is not because your name is on the birth certificate, in Thailand, that you have legal authority to act as « « legal parent ». -

Will land office have copies of sor kor 1 land?
This is not easy to answer as not a lot of info exist about Sor Kor 1 (ส.ค.1). Sor Kor is a document issued by the Land Department to acknowledge that an individual has made a claim to use a specific parcel of land for agricultural purposes. It is not a land title deed (Chanote or Nor Sor 4 Jor) but rather a certificate of land utilization. It was part of a government effort to allow farmers to use state land, but it does not confer ownership rights, only the right to use the land. To directly answer your question: 1. Yes, Sor Kor 1 normally comes with a physical document. It is a white document. I have seen few of them before, but rare. • This document is issued by the local district office and includes details such as the claimant’s name, location, and size of the land. • Even though it’s not a title deed, it is still a formal government-issued certificate. 2. If there is no document at all, and the mother-in-law only verbally claims she has Sor Kor 1 land, this is problematic. • She may have once had Sor Kor 1 rights but lost the document. • Or she might be occupying the land without formal recognition. • In some cases, people may confuse informal occupation with Sor Kor 1 rights. 3. What to do next: • You should go to the local Land Office or Amphur where the land is located and inquire about the land’s legal status using the claimant’s name or land location. I do not think the tessaban is the right place. • They can check if there was ever a Sor Kor 1 issued and what the current status is. If your mother-in-law has genuinely lost the document, there may be a process to request a re-issuance, but she would need to prove her use or occupation of the land historically. My answer comes from 3 sources and my experience. a)Thai Land Code and Land Titles System defining various types of land documents. b) Government Land Office and Department of Lands Policies c) Practical Land Use and Legal Procedures that I know. Best of luck. -
