You are a living walking cliche Colin. I find you remarkably similar to a former poster named bob. But he was younger. Be careful out in fantasy land Colin.  Old guys like you can be taken advantage of very easily.

I guess you are aware that a large % of Thai taxi drivers / song taow drivers / mcy taxi riders, carry pipes, items similar to baseball bats, big knives including machetes and guns. Same as in many countries.

Aren't you also more heroic and tougher than everyone here?

well it shocked him and he blew his top.

He was already hot under the collar so maybe a farang asking him what's wrong just tipped him over the edge!

Yes Bob i remember from your other stories, you seem to have this effect on Thai people in general.

Don't worry,it is not them,it is you!

Yesterday I had a very heated encounter with a taxi driver that was bordering on dangerous.  I was forced to hail one from the side of the road due to not having my phone with me (I own that part) and asked him to take me to my destination, which he agreed to, with the meter on.

All was going swimmingly until the traffic started to become congested. I could see the middle aged geezer getting more and more frustrated as time was passing by. Then he started swearing profusely in Thai (obviously he didn't know I could speak it) so he was undeniably shocked when I asked him in perfect thai what was the matter?

Well that's when he blew his top. Farang this, eff this, you dont understand this, my life is so hard, you too rich, why not you go back your country, how dare you speak to me in Thai, this traffic is horrible, etc etc etc. All of which I took on the chin and gave him some back in return, but then he started shouting and banging the steering wheel like a complete lunatic. So I said that's enough, pull over, I will get out here, to which he did. I paid what I owed and he went screeching off down a side street. I took a photo of his licence plate, his name badge etc and will be phoning him in today, not that it will make any difference...

Grab & Bolt always for me now, it was partly my fault for forgetting the phone but those taxis that crawl curbs looking for customers can sometimes be loose cannons.

Stay safe out there, folks!

Totally B.effing S.

Oh this is coming from the man who is nearly 80 and couldn't even get upstairs , why don't you go to a gym instead of sitting there with a turtle neck hanging down

What a stupid response from you again as the poster says keep mopping floors, you also annoyed me many times with your lies and B/S. BTW floor moppers don't live till they are eighty you are a nasty piece of s**t.

Seems like you lot have never heard of a go pro before?

That's what I was out with yesterday, I was doing some filming and didn't want to carry both of them with me.

Not like I have to justify myself to you lot anyway but that's the way it went down.

Upload the video of the altercation then!

Getting 'into it' sounds like some sort of sexual encounter with that taxi driver.  Bob, were you making passes at straight guys again?

Over the years it has happened to me many times.

Thai men, especially taxi drivers hopped up on Yaba, can get very excitable behind the wheel, especially if they haven't slept for a few days...

One time a taxi driver pulled the "no change" move and so he got an extra 10 baht from me.

At that time, the baht was 42 to the dollar. So,

Its the principle, so I screamed at him in an insane fury, veins bulging, spittle flecking my beard along side the chunks of Pla Ra from my lunch. As is typical of Thai taxi drivers, he groveled before me, so I allowed him to keep his ill gotten gains.

Theives and cowards! Treat them accordingly!

I've only ever taken curb crawlers (I have no idea how to order a 'grab' taxi anyway) I've only had good experiences with taxis in Bangkok, one taxi driver came from a place near my village in Isaan and was most helpful in helping me find a building that was hard to identify and even refused a tip for the extra trouble I put him through.
