Lazada - If it looks too good to be true ...

Recommended Posts

I received something similar from a local seller - sent me an empty envelope instead of a product. Contacted them and they explained that there was supposed to be a letter inside explaining situation, as product would be delivered a few days later, but someone forgot to put it in.

All that said, a couple of days later the ordered product arrived.

Strange arrangement, but worked in the end. So it might work for you as well.

Any issues with 3rd-party toners?

PM me with the Baht n Sold details.

I always buy COD on Lazada.  If the size/weight of the package is very different from what I have ordered, I refused to take delivery. This happened only once in my ten years of ordering from Lazada. But nowadays, scammers are everywhere.

I usually pay by CC when I order and I have no trouble with refunds.

Recently I ordered COD  - for some reason, order number 2 out of 3 had 'there was a problem with your credit card - please use an alternative method of payment'.

Ordered 10 items COD. I knew before opening it that it was wrong weight, wrong size - they only sent one item.

Still waiting for the refund after three weeks.

I never order from overseas and I will never use COD again. 100% failure rate.

I have been hit with the scam outlined by Crossy twice, both times ordering Thinkpad laptops: one Lazada Thailand and just a few days ago, Lazada Philippines.  First, I want to make clear that in both instances, Lazada was totally co-operative and refunded my money.

The first instance, instead of a laptop I received a small plastic envelope with a "Jade" Necklace inside.  Interestingly and this is important to note, the contents window on the envelope label stated the make and model of the laptop I had ordered.  I immediately contacted Lazada and initiated a return.  I then got an SMS from the seller, like the letter saying the necklace was a gift in compensation for the delivery being late and to expect the laptop in a few days.  I called Lazada CS, asking if I should cancel the cancellation and the CS agent suggested I wait a few days.  Of course no laptop ever arrived.   The Philippines was pretty similar.  The laptop was to be a Christmas gift.  A small package enclosing a cheap ring was received, the package label declaring a laptop was inside.  Again, I quickly initiated a cancellation with photos included of everything.  Lazada did insist that the ring be returned to them which entailed dropping it at the express office.  A full refund was issued the next day.  I have successfully purchased several Lenovo Thinkpads on Lazada but it has always been from domestic sellers based in Thailand.  Both instances of the scam were overseas Chinese sellers.

Why do you accept delivery when you know it was the wrong weight and size?  Just tell the delivery guy to bring it back to his office. That was what I did. No problem at all.

I just avoid the the scams by no longer buying from Lazada until it cleans up it's act.

Some might enjoy this Cat and Mouse game, and some enjoy risk and gambling.

But I do not.

This is not just a problem with Lazada, these days.

This is the season of the scams.

I STOPPED buying from Lazada about a year ago, and for valid reasons.

Also, I have stopped buying from many other retailers, as well.

I will still buy from JIB...because....computer products are still good value, and JIB, here where I am, has, during the past couple of years, upped their game to supply very good quality products.

I am OK with buying computer stuff.

But, i am not OK buying from other retailers as I once did.

And, this is the season of the witch, too....

You really cannot blame the suppliers who sell through Lazada for your being scammed.

You reward these suppliers for their behavior....obviously....by continuing to buy from Lazada.

If we wish to stamp out this bad behavior, in ONE FELL SWOOP, or one Full Sweep, then we know what to do:

EN MASSE, we need to stop buying...immediately.

Then, within about three months.....all this bad behavior will cease to be rewarded....and then....

Scamming will come to a halt, lickety-split.

There is no other way.

En Masse, just stop buying and rewarding bad behavior....for one-half year.

All the bad actors will quickly fall by the wayside.

Then, we can RESET....

And the consumer world will be a better place.

There is really no other way.

Lazada, and the suppliers, will not police themselves...obviously.

This is the only solution.

I have stopped buying.

Anytime I need something, then I will buy from Amazon.

Amazon, at least up til now, has been willing to make bad purchased good, with very little discussion.

Mostly, though, I have never had to dispute anything with Amazon.

Just do not buy from Lazada....

This is the simplest solution.....

This is a new age in which uninformed and uneducated consumers have access to online buying...just to give themselves a HIT, a buying-related HIGH, presumably because they are addicted to the Gambling Rush that it provides....

And, here in Asia, especially Thailand, gamblers are legion.....

Now, hear this!!!!:

We all know the drill!

A mate (yes, really) ordered a colour laser printer, shipping from China, the price was about 50% of what the same units are from local sellers.

Today he got a delivery ...

Of course, the order is now "delivered" and the 7 days return timer has started.

He'll wait a couple of days "just in case", then trigger a dispute!

More news as it happens!

Looks like scam. Initiate a return from Lazada you will get a refund no problem.

I try to use only LAZ MALL vendors, and don't order anything overseas more than couple 100 baht, unless I know the vendor already.

This is absolutely correct ....  I've never had an issue with cheap electrical gear or LED's from overseas, anything up to a couple of hundred baht,    but I would never buy anything expensive to be shipped international.    Too much risk ....

I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago.  He will never get the actual item.  Best to immediately file for a return based on receiving the wrong item.

Only order (expensive) items from known stores in Thailand, with lots of good reviews. Never order when the price seems too good. The obvious example is memory cards where you often see adverts for say 512 gb cards for 100 baht !!

Same goes for me. I only use CoD.

From the Bkk Post Article :   The driver is required to record a video clip or take a photo of the customer opening the package upon delivery.

Delivery companies are required to pick up rejected goods from customers within five days of being notified of the rejection. The companies must collect the rejected goods at the point where they picked them up with no collection fee.

If the driver videos the customer opening the parcel, who then rejects it, why would there need to be five days where the customer has kept the disputed parcel?

Probably because the buyer is not obliged to open the parcel while the driver is present, and has the freedom to just take delivery and open later.

You can use 3rd party toners but I prefer the original HP ones, the last service was about 5,000 baht with new colour toners and new black toner cartridge in the box with a lot left in the existing cartridge.  The transfer belt and imaging drum were the expensive items in the service.  Service was done at HP's authorised service centre in Chiang Rai.  It's functionally equivalent to a new one with all the parts replaced.

I replaced it with a new HP black only model whilst the old one was being serviced, but the new one takes much longer to connect to my WiFi and is uglier.

Get an IQ.

It doesn't say the buyer is required to open the parcel on delivery

But the driver is REQUIRED to record a video clip of the customer opening the package upon delivery.

How else could the customer prove that the package was 'fake' or the goods not correct.

Surely with your high IQ you can understand that.

Over and out.

Only buy goods already in Thailand and only from "LazMall".....took me a while to learn.
