Reports suggested a vehicle had driven through a crowd on New Orleans' extremely popular Bourbon Street, killing multiple people.

Multiple people have allegedly been killed after a vehicle ploughed through a crowd of revellers on New Orleans' famous Bourbon Street in the US, according to local media and eyewitnesses.

New Orleans Police Department said that a lorry may have run down the group on the street, which is in the Louisiana city's French Quarter.

Witnesses speaking to CBS News claimed that a vehicle crashed into a crowd at high speed, and then the driver got out and started firing a weapon, with police returning fire.

It was unknown how many people have been killed or injured. Nola Ready, a New Orleans government agency, said in post on social media that there had been "a mass casualty incident on Canal and Bourbon Street", warning people nearby to "get yourself away from the area", as per BBC News. The incident allegedly occurred around 3.15am local time at the intersection of Bourbon Street and Iberville.

Emergency services, including ambulances and vehicles from the coroner's office, were reportedly at the scene. Bourbon Street appeared to be shut down with a heavy police presence.

In a post on X, a journalist at local news outlet WGNO-TV wrote: "NOPD source states that as many as 10 fatalities after driver in pickup truck plowed into crowd on Bourbon Street.

"Multiple more injuries. Mayor and police chief on scene," he added, though this has not yet been confirmed.

WGNO reports the Bourbon Street has been cleared and closed as emergency services attend its intersection with Iberville.

Early days, but I expect some loon with grievances blown out of all proportion. But the major difference with Al Abdulmohsen, he won't have been on Twitter moaning about how he couldn't a gun.

The first news press event (no questions were taken) was confusing.  The mayor said "terrorist attack".  The NOPD Chief did not say much except that the FBI will be lead agency.  Also, IED"s were found and the suspect exchanged gunfire with officers.  The FBI SAIC said this was not a

Sure sounds like terrorism now.

I guess the only silver lining is that it wasn't domestic terrorism from maga or anti maga.

I also see that the profiles in discourage mercenary mayor there had wanted to let the Sugar Bowl happen the same day but it was then cancelled for one day.

Yes, I'll agree with that.

Not doing anything is no longer an option with this religion, as usual no outcry and condemnation from his fellow muslims. Some will be cheering from the sidelines, while one or two will offer fake regrets and moan about a backlash against thier community.

So they believe in an all-knowing omnipotent god, yet that god wants them to do the killing for them.  What?!?  Insinuating that his god is incapable and needs a wretch like himself to do his work?  Hubris as such will keep you out of Paradise, laddy!

I would think the stuff going on in Gaza makes for good recruitment material.
