What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2025)

Featured Replies

I decided to watch one of the movies I have on file and I chose, "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid", which for those folks who don't know, also starred Bob Dylan, and his soundtrack runs throughout the movie, and it's very good IMO.

Although it doesn't follow the historical version of Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, it's an interesting take and obviously made for the movies, all the same it is a very good and well made movie – – also starring Rita Coolidge for those who may be interested.

To get into the Christmas spirit I am watching Dickensian on BBC iPlayer. Have seen it several times in the past but never get bored of it.

It's 20 half hour episodes of a TV drama bringing the majority of Charles Dickens characters into one Victorian whodunnit drama. A stellar British cast and really enjoyable at this time of year. It helps that it's broken down into many short episodes.

Scouting around on BBC iPlayer I noticed that they had the movie "Oppenheimer" available and although I'd seen it a while back, I thought I'd give it another go, and was pleased that I did, because it's a very complex movie, moving backwards and forwards in time and there are several subplots running through it.

It provided a good evening's entertainment and also some "behind the scenes" events at the time.

I watched "American Psycho" again, and it's hard to believe it's 25 years old.  Good picture

Not a cam version.

The miniseries version of Nuremburg from 2000 is also worth watching and is available for free on YouTube.

Yes and I did mention that a few posts back and although it was good(ish), for me it lacked that something which would have made it "great".

Just watched the first two episodes of 'The Last Frontier'.   It's very good.

not me I stopped and went with Down Cemetery Road

Watched "Searching" and "Missing" and thought "Searching" very good, different and clever. "Missing" was good as well if a stretch at times.

For rock fans.....

'Springsteen Deliver Me' the digital version is now available

also 'Spinal Tap ii The End Continues'  both onboard the pirate ship.

I was watching Shameless but found it a bit heavy on the LGBT content, so I switched to "What's in the Box". Which is even more gay. You can't escape it.

Did anyone else dig PLUR1BUS? I really liked the concept, a little bit similar in concept to invasion of the body snatchers which has been one of my favourites since watching it on moviedome as a kid. I thought it was a good ending of the first series. Currently watching Gen V and Landman.

Oh you poor dear heart! Must have been a trauma for you.

Never heard of the box show but if you had looked it up, it's hosted by a famous gay man (grown up Doogie Howser). Regardless, it sounds like a stupid show and I won't bother.

On Shameless which I have heard of, did you mean the British or American version?

It's pretty awesome actually.

You'd like it, the gay guys win in the end.

US version of course, ever since I saw Eastenders I vowed to never watch British TV ever again or go blind trying.

Fackham Hall movie just out

"A new porter embarks on an unlikely relationship with the youngest daughter of a prominent English family. Simultaneously, rivalries are spilling over in the Davenport family, led by the Lord and Lady as they also weather the epic failure of the wedding of their eldest daughter to her caddish cousin."

good movie lots of humour

Truth and Treason is a true story and worth a watch.  Slow at the start, but becomes more interesting.

I had a bit of a movie fest over the past week and watched, "Funeral in Berlin", "Get Carter" and finally a movie I've never seen before, which has been highly rated, called, "Taxi Driver".

I enjoyed the two movies with Michael Caine starring, because I like his laid-back acting style and somewhat acerbic wit and the movies were devoid of things like CGI or AI, so good old-fashioned movie style and directing.

I didn't know what to expect with Taxi Driver and although it's highly rated, I found it a bit of a plod at times, however it didn't detract from the great acting of Robert De Niro, but the scene where Harvey Keitel was dancing with the young girl, "Iris", sent a shiver down my spine due to the similarity to current events being uncovered in the USA.

One more for anyone interested.

Movie called Relay.  Very clever plot with a huge twist.

Yeah, I have watched Pluribus but I find the angst of the two un-joined characters to be over-the-top.  I'd be like the guy living in Las Vegas and just enjoying the ride.

Finished watching Season 3 of BIG BOYS which is obviously the finale. It really got kind of heavy. I don't think nearly as funny as the first two seasons although there were some funny implied political commentaries. But I appreciate that it gave closure on the characters especially the two male leads using an inventive construct of two different possible endings.

Tehran season 3 episodes 1-5 have been on TPB for ages, but no sign of episodes 6,7,8. I haven't bothered looking at any of the available episodes to see what  languages of audio and subtitles are included.

Out of the Furnace

Pennsylvania rust belt small town noir focusing on the relationship between two brothers. Compared to the Deer Hunter. Great actors, great acting. You probably missed this in 2013.

This 4 parter is getting excellent reviews.

Minute-by-minute Titanic sinking narrative through real survivor accounts, following 16 passengers parallel experiences, with each TV hour matching one hour aboard ship.

Watched Fackham Hall and thought it was a pathetic attempt at a comedy and I was barely able to raise more than a couple of smiles thoughout the whole movie........the best being the Vicar's attempt at reading the marriage service, and then only just!! IMO very poor.
