A man who fired a gun inside a restaurant in the nation’s capital after a fake online conspiracy theory called “Pizzagate” motivated him to do so nearly a decade ago was shot and killed by North Carolina police during a weekend traffic stop.

 

Edgar Maddison Welch was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by officers in Kannapolis on Saturday night, according to a Kannapolis Police Department news release. One of the officers recognized the car as the vehicle of someone he had arrested and who had an outstanding warrant for a felony probation violation – Welch, police said.

 

When the officers approached the vehicle to arrest Welch, police said the man pulled out a handgun and pointed it at one of the officers. After he was instructed to drop the weapon but didn’t, two officers shot Welch, authorities said.

The Pizzagate story as originally reported was solid. The Podesta emails (published on Wikileaks but then erased entirely) are pretty explicit, and James Alefantis' Instagram account (now closed)… well, let's say this is a seriously sick and twisted individual.

Pushing a lie knowing it is a lie is reprehensible.

Intentionally  targeting the feeble minded and the mentally ill in an attempt to provoke a violent outcome is evil.

Continuing to repeat a malicious falsehood under the guise of exploring "possibilities" speaks to the malicious intent  of the person circulating false information.

 

The people who make these false claims should be  held liable for the damages that they cause. If their actions result in  injuries to others,  they should  face the most  severe of penalties. Stringing up one of these cowards  may be somewhat harsh, but it does  convey what a lot of people would like to see happen to the spineless coward losers who do this.

There is no such thing as "QAnon", like a club people become members of or get expelled from…

 

I am not aware that anybody in the Q community celebrated this character and his nefarious actions. The only publicity which was given to him was from the media and the main protagonists of the Comet Ping Pong story. It was used to make a lot of noise and deflect from the substance of the issue, i.e. the Podesta emails and Alefantis' Instagram posts.

 

To my knowledge, the only time Trump mentioned "QAnon" [sic] was when a journalist asked him if he knew about it, describing it as a theory under which Trump is "leading a charge against a cabal of pedophiles, cannibals and satanic worshippers", to which Trump responded: "Is that supposed to be a bad thing?"
