Wife applied at the land office for transfer some land in to her name(chanote).There was at notice in the computer/from the officer that she was married to a farang and needed to ask her supervicer if the transfer would be ok? I was not present(she was there alone). Have someone else who is married to a  thai had the similar experience/questions at the land office?

Not exactly the same, but we (my Thai wife and this Farang) have been married for 34 years and had a house and land in Pattaya City (in her name of course) and recently sold it. My wife and I were at the land office with the buyers representative as the land deeds were signed over. No problem. No one cared about this Farang with a big grin on his face. 🙂

AND for those small minded people she wasn't a bar girl and I worked in Chonburi and am not bald and fat and don't wear shorts, socks and shoes.

Thanks,no problem for us also,it was just strange they pointed out(loudly)she (my wife) is married to a foreigner and it looked like could be a problem..as they called in the supervicer before they could proceed.

Never a problem, on 11 parcels of land, 2 different provinces, Udon Thani & Prachuap Khiri Khan.

 

Only thing different than a transfer into a Thai / Thai married couple, is a statement I signed, stating all funds to buy, were hers, and I have no vested interest in the land.

 

And usufructs were added in my name to each parcel of land.  No lawyer or agents involved, and a fill in the blanks form, filled out and printed off by land office staff, that I signed, for all of a 70 baht charge, I think.

 

All very simple and fast, once called up to start paperwork.

When my wife transferred some property about a year ago, they asked her if she was married. She answered 'no' because she knew I would then have to come in and sign a document. (She kept her maiden name for exactly this reason.)

 

The Land Office said: 'Really? Who's this person xxx, who you married in Bangkok on xx/xx/xx?

 

Wife replied, 'Oh, I forgot.'

 

I then was called in to sign....

We recently purchased some land for our 13 yr old kid. We're not married but I had to sign papers because kid has my last foreigner name. Had to pay some baht (3000) to have my kid's name added to chanote.

Similar experience,just i didnt need to sign anything,wife has her maiden name also..i thought we had a one off but seems they get a note on all thais married to foreigner then.

Is your marriage registered in Thailand like @FarangRimPing? My wife retains her single status on her Thai ID and kept her maiden name. We were married in the US and never registered our marriage in Thailand and thus I have never been asked to sign any documents every time she purchases or transfers Thai real estate to herself. 

We are married in Australia and Thailand, but wife kept madien name also.
