He doesn't like spicy food.

then pad thai is the perfect place to begin

I'm amused he is in some luxury accommodation eating a takeout somebody obviously collected for him.

I think he is in the closet.

Likes cooking food, spits the dummy easily and has that lisp.

Even though Thipsamai is famous, I've never met anyone - Thai or foreign - who is particularly impressed by their pad Thai. At this point, they seem to be coasting along on a reputation from long ago.

He should give blue crab somtom a try and let everyone know how things went after a day.

I like all kinds of Thai foods, but have no love of Pad Thai, overrated in my opinion.

Pad thai is uninspiring and hardly a traditional dish.  I don't much care for Tom yum either unless its has a clear broth like nam sai or potek, which can be heavenly

Sorry I only saw this part of the menu.

Who cares what the price of his steaks are ???  - there are lot of restaurants in Bangkok with Steaks that expensive, from many Japanese restaurants to high end steak / grill restaurants....    those steaks listed in the menu's (posted on this thread) are by no means excessive.....   unless you want to compare to the cost of a local chewey buffalo.

As far as Phat Thai is concerned - its an incredibly famous dish in Thailand and one of many on offer.

Just because 'some posters' have evolved on to dishes they consider more for Thai's and longterm foreigners who've become more deeply ingrained in Thai culture when eating their chicken feet soup and Som-Tam-PlaRah....  It does not mean that Pad Thai is not a great dish....

There is also another facet to this:  A while ago, Gordon Ramsay filmed an episode with a Thai Chef and tried to cook Pad Thai, the result was ridiculed by the Thai Chef - this seems to be Gordon Ramsay owning his failure and coming here to learn how to master such a dish...

We recently had guests (Gap Year kids from the UK)... the tried anything and everything, mostly influenced by TikTok and youtube... They ordered Paad Thai (one recommended on TikTok)... My Wife had it and said it was the best Paad Thai she had !!!!....     she loved it....    Thus - when 'poopoo-ing' dishes like Paad Thai for their simplicity, it might be because you may have not had a really good one....

Renowned celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, celebrated for his Michelin-star success, recently took to social media to share his culinary delight in the heart of Bangkok. Ramsay praised the "excellent Pad Thai" from the iconic Thipsamai Restaurant at Pratu Pee, expressing his excitement about being in the vibrant city.

On 22nd January 2025, Ramsay posted a picture of himself smiling broadly, holding a plate of the renowned dish with chopsticks ready in hand. The scene, beautifully captured, features Ramsay on a balcony with Bangkok’s bustling backdrop, as a branded Thipsamai paper bag sits on the table beside him.

Captioning his Instagram post, Ramsay wrote, "When in Thailand ... you learn from past mistakes. This is outstanding Pad Thai from Thipsamai – thrilled to be in Bangkok!"

The post quickly garnered attention, with both local fans and international followers reacting enthusiastically, liking and sharing the joyful culinary moment widely across platforms.

Oh well I never, he adds tamarind sauce to it. Isn't that the main (only) spicy taste in Pad Thai apart from fish sauce, salt, sugar, chilli ?

No tofu or MSG? Wherever I have seen it cooked, the egg goes in first.

I'll find out which Paad Thai they [the visiting guests) had ordered and get back to you in this thread....

(I know it was from somewhere in Bangkok).

Personally, I think the Paad Thai at Greyhound Cafe (any of the branches) in Bangkok is very decent.
