These are all countries that currently have lots of precipitation that can absorb the particles but is still over.

 

What is the common denominator  ? Too many people, too many cars, too many vehicles.

 

Yes, Thailand has a problem with burning fields, and they do get some of the crop from other countries, but would that solve the problem? NO,, they have to find a way to get more vehicles out of the city.

 

Easier said than done.  More trains and lower fees is not going to solve it. Most people are still going to drive their kids to school; they are going to drive to work because it is convenient in their minds, and they do not want to be a sardine crammed into the BTS can.

 

Is there a solution I am not sure.  I think that the main thing is to educate people.  Start with the farmers in Issaan or some area. Show them a method that does not cost them  money that can do the same thing as burning their crops.  Remember, most of these people do not have the money to buy any chemicals and have been taught that burning fields is the best thing.

Not sure what urgent matters are they talking about, right now I saw a a massive Trash burning fire under the Expressway entrance in Chatuchot, you can see far away the huge amount of smoke blowing up. While right next there are so many houses and villas and even a big primary School not over 2 km from that fire.

PM2.5 on the BYD shows as 999.

 

This actually happen nearly every day.

Over the years, there's been much discussion about how much rolling stock is on hand (and whether they paid for it).  There used to be a couple of posters that actually worked with the BTS and MRT that knew such things and had great insight.  

 

I'm wondering if they could increase the frequency of the trains to (at least partially) accommodate the increased demand during the Lunar New Year holiday (and if they ever decide to offer the 20 baht scheme)?  Do they have enough rolling stock and enough track to run the trains closer together if they chose to?  Or are they running balls to the wall already?

Yeah, @Lakegeneve was the insider and always had really good info but he hasn't posted in over a year sadly.

From my understanding there's no spare rolling stock to add more trains on the BTS. Also the current headway of the Sukhumvit line of (if memory serves me correctly) 2 mins 40 seconds (?) is as tight as it can be unless they completely redo/replace the signalling system. The headway on the Silom is something like four minutes  but that is limited by the single track platform at Saphin Taksin station. They were always supposed to eventually demolish that station to alleviate that bottleneck but I guess it is just too popular a station for someone to make that call.

So the trains can't run closer together than they already do. I guess the next step would be to add another car to make them 5 cars instead of four, but never seen any indication that that's being planned, so it would be years away if it ever happens.
 

root cause is known... but companies like   mi...pol  cannot be touched in this country or forced to buy machines that could prevent all this
