We have seen a trend of these stories recently. To me at least it appears that whoever's publishing them is looking to sensationalize things that are either not special or might not be true. I agree on the use of pics, as well.

They're certainly could be more to the story there's really no way to know at this point, it is all entirely plausible though not probable. The part about the police is totally possible, especially in Pattaya. They are some of the most greedy cops in the country.

 

The part of the landlord sounds extreme but it also sounds possible, he certainly should have had all his valuables locked up, if nothing else locked up in his suitcase, in which case either the police or the landlord would have had a steal or destroy his suitcase to get to any of his valuables.

 

if it were me and this actually happened I would be looking for major retribution against the Airbnb host, and would be looking to raise as much stink as possible online and in the media at home, as he has done.

Airbnb used to be different, nice and easy. After the pandemic I also tend to avoid it and all the problems associated with it.

If you can't speak Thai here, it's easy to have problems.  If this happened to me, I'd tell the Police and the others that they'll be appear on Channel 3 midday news with Num f they don't sort this out fairly znd quickly.

This has to be the biggest bunch of horse crap I've read here,, just weeks ago another British women shared the exact same photos of her hellish experiences of being locked up in Thai prison for an overstay,, so this idiot walks into the wrong place and ends up in jail then his Airbnb throws him out. 

My question is simple I can understand the women sneaking her phone into prison here inside her snatch but how did this guy get it into there up his ass crack????? Please stop reporting this trash were not stupid. 

If there are so many stupid British people coming here then maybe they should go to Blackpool instead.

The "more" to this story is that the same guy apparently (if the photos are actually from him - and if they're not then something is really off) told an almost completely different story to the Daily Mail just two weeks ago. 

 

In the previous version of the story featuring photos of the same person, it was a case of overstay and having been shopped to the police by his girlfriend over a business dispute. 

 

So as many others have pointed out, this story just doesn't hold water, in light of the previously-published, totally different version.

Agreed, but let's say that all the unfortunate events did actually happen, the bits that might well be missing/short on detail are the reasons why they happened and his subsequent reactions.

 

From what I've seen of the Thai police, they usually handle people fairly reasonably if they are compliant, the strongarm stuff takes place if someone kicks off. Things can turn very nasty from thereon in.

also, when the police arrests you, you are likely to resist and act crazy, making things worse.

so likely the root cause was being heavily intoxicated.
