Keir Starmer Prepared to Send British Troops to Ukraine to Secure Peace

Prime Minister Keir Starmer has stated that he is ready to deploy British troops to Ukraine to help enforce a peace agreement, recognizing that such a move could put soldiers "in harm’s way" should Vladimir Putin launch another attack. Calling the crisis a “once in a generation moment” and an “existential” challenge for Europe, Starmer emphasized the urgency of ensuring Ukraine’s security and preventing future aggression.

Starmer is attending emergency talks in Paris on Monday alongside European leaders to coordinate a response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to broker a deal with Putin. Concerns have grown over the possibility that the U.S. might scale back its defense commitments in Europe, prompting European nations to reassess their own roles in safeguarding regional stability.

Writing in *The Daily Telegraph* on Sunday, Starmer reaffirmed the UK's commitment to Ukraine’s defense, including a financial pledge of £3 billion annually until 2030. However, he also made it clear that military aid alone would not be sufficient. "It also means being ready and willing to contribute to security guarantees to Ukraine by putting our own troops on the ground if necessary," he said.

“I do not say that lightly. I feel very deeply the responsibility that comes with potentially putting British servicemen and women in harm’s way,” Starmer continued. “But any role in helping to guarantee Ukraine’s security is helping to guarantee the security of our continent, and the security of this country. The end of this war, when it comes, cannot merely become a temporary pause before Putin attacks again.”

Previously, Starmer had only suggested that British forces could be involved in Ukraine’s security post-ceasefire. However, in what appeared to be a direct message to European allies and Trump, he confirmed that military deployment was a serious consideration. The Prime Minister, who is scheduled to visit Washington later this month, underscored the importance of continued American support. “While European nations must step up in this moment – and we will – U.S. support will remain critical and a U.S. security guarantee is essential for a lasting peace, because only the U.S. can deter Putin from attacking again,” he stated.

As part of ongoing diplomatic efforts, U.S. and Russian officials are set to meet in Saudi Arabia following Trump’s recent phone call with Putin. However, Ukrainian officials have not been invited to the talks, and other European leaders may also be excluded.

“We must be clear that peace cannot come at any cost. Ukraine must be at the table in these negotiations, because anything less would accept Putin’s position that Ukraine is not a real nation,” Starmer warned.

He also drew a comparison to the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan under former President Joe Biden, which followed a deal struck between Trump’s administration and the Taliban. "We cannot have another situation like Afghanistan, where the U.S. negotiated directly with the Taliban and cut out the Afghan government," he said. “I feel sure that President Trump will want to avoid this too.”

The meeting in Paris, convened by French President Emmanuel Macron, will include Starmer alongside leaders from Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, the Netherlands, and Denmark, as well as top officials from the European Council, the European Commission, and NATO.

Starmer made it clear that Europe must take greater responsibility for its own defense. "We have got to show we are truly serious about our own defense and bearing our own burden," he said.

Seems like there might be a larger man in the room than Don. He complained that we were betraying the Afghan people, so how would one describe his current behavior? Giving away the store to a serial killing dictator friend? He has always been highly compromised, when it comes to despots. He adores them.

The UK’s primary role in the ‘UK/US Special Relationship’

Provide troops when Washington demands them.

What a plonker.

Keir Rodney Starmer is indeed a massive plonker.

I'd suggest he uses the military in the channel to protect his own country from criminals and terrorists before sending them to die for a foreign cause.

That wouldn't raise his profile as much though. He craves the global stage.

Or a dumber man who wants to murder his own countrymen.

The problem is not of his personal making. but that of ALL UK politicians going back decades. Cut the size of ALL the military branches and at the same time increase the commitments that the service people have to do. It is also the responsibility of ALL the service chiefs for NOT speaking out in support of the troops and not resigning on protest.

Don't talk to the chiefs, but talk to the troops instead and keep the bean counters away from ANY increase in costs.

Then try to recruit a 20% increase across ALL branches per year for at least 3 years to build a fully trained military. Do NOT commit the troops to suit any vanity project.

The regular UK Army is under 75,000 personnel. There isn't even enough to defend the UK, let alone another country.

How about Starmer the spineless fool deploys troops on the streets of the UK... clearly needs it as it's turning into a war zone.

Is he now?  He is a globalist moron.  It is not the UK's fight unless we send British troops there and such an act of aggression will then make it the UKs fight in the eyes of Russia.

That said, if those on Twitter with the Ukraine flags in their bios or leftists who support this wish to go to the frontline and put their own lives on the line then I would be okay with that.

Sounds like the Europeans are scared that Trump is going to fix things and make them look bad.  Better ramp it up to ensure a deal cannot be made...  🙄

What a trio, Trump, Musc and Vance . How can anyone trust them ?

I remember that PM with female face couldn't get approval to send few Tomahawks to Syria. How this will succeed?

Exactly what Biden tried to do.

Can you name some members of this 'global establishment' please? Roughly how many members are there?

None are. Guys who drink Chang beer are not rich elites.

Since this is an open forum with no way of safely verifying any claims made I see little point in stooping to your level by making any claims!

Strange that Starmer seems more concerned about Ukraine's border with Russia than he does about securing the UK's borders.

This globalist simp should focus on what he was elected to do. Protect Britain.

All in the EU that are backing the Ukriane was and all of the us Congress that don't back Trump.

They're all part of the same club, in it for themselves far more than foe the people they represent.

If this 'global establishment' doesn't include any of the Presidents of the US, China or Russia, then it's global political authority and influence would appear to be quite limited.

Well yes, certainly for Korea, Iraq (twice) and Afghanistan! I believe we were asked to contribute to Vietnam, but a staff study concluded that the (North) Vietnamese were doing rather well on their own!

War is big business.  They're probably hurting since it's not trendy to kill brown people right now.
