"Why not make things easier? just by using a good computer system". A good computer system needs a bit of brainwork to use, not like writing on paper.

Here in Thailand they none of all.. no brains, no computersystem and surely not less paperwork.. Yesterday we were at the Amphur to register a deceased member of the family. Just before us there was a couple that wanted to change their address.. I saw that the woman had to sign 6 different forms, and than the officer was using the computer and after 20 minutes she had to pay 20 THB and the address was changed...I don't understand this kind of wasting papers. why not simply 1 form with names from old to new address and 1 signature printed out of the computer... Easy, simple, quick, cheaper

He knows the rules, and if not he does now.  Too many farang here trying to bypass the laws.  If they don't like it then he and his girlfriend shouldn't be here.  Thai people I speak to say they are tired of ignorant / disrespectful farangs living here and want change to the visas limiting their stay.

Sounds like Anutin

   So  , an Israeli .

Its hardly "entitled" to be annoyed because your partner is being deported

Even if he is being deported for illegal/criminal activity?

My point was that it wasn't "entitled Israelis" who are up in arms .

It was just the Brazilians guys girlfriend who wasn't happy about it

Thailand is just tourist unfriendly, partly caused by outdated laws. There should be a revision of several laws just to make it matching with era we live in and not how it was 50-75 years back..

The amount of papers needed for a workpermit is terrible and the process is taking a long time...Why not make things easier? just by using a good computer system

No, I think it is the random and corruption based enforcement.  Everyone knows you give a gift and they ignore. You don't pay and they enforce.  So even when they are acting appropriately and legally it is assumed corrupt.

If you think it’s so  bad you don’t have to stay here and suffer

Matheus is a bassist (bass guitar).

Yeah,

You can play or practice all you want,  but no ticket,  no can take money.

You can play a gig or jam for absolute free, just for the fun of jamming, and still be accused of taking food from the mouths of Thai children by "working" by playing a musical instrument in public and charged with "working without a permit" and risk deportation.

The incident involved four individuals: Brian, an Irish national and Jazz House owner, and three musicians – Matheus, along with Israelis Mr. Yishay and Mr. Shay. While Brian was bailed out on 120,000 baht for operating without official business registration, the musicians faced varied fines for their role in the situation.

It seems to me like it begins with an unlicensed business; you can get work permits for foreign entertainment artists, but it might be hard to get an artist-work permit for an unlicensed venue. Just follow the law, then you avoid problems.

How would your partner react if you got jailed and deported ?

If you're married, they don't deport you. But shacking up with someone doesn't give you extra human rights.

This is simply a completely ridiculous abuse of power.

There are a very limited number of homegrown jazz musicians in Thailand, and foreign musicians should be honored, celebrated and welcome with open arms.

At what point are we going to finally see some adults in the room who have the power to make these decisions?

So............free tourist visas with the option of "working" to pay for mama noodles and weed for talentless Russian begpackers that claim to identify as "artistes"?

I didn’t say she was entitled.

But now you mention it, they break the law for nearly three months and continue to do so despite a very public warning. Sounds entitled to me.

The "entitled" bit carried of from the discussion with the previous poster and you joined in .

Do you realise that its a Brazilian who is getting deported ?

(Just before you go on a usual rant about Jews)
