Popular Post AndreasHG Posted 7 hours ago Author Popular Post Posted 7 hours ago 28 minutes ago, stevenl said: Nothing on the atrocities then, just a 'I don't care '. Unsurprising and typical of sociopaths. What sociopaths, who are incapable of human emotions, miss to understand is that this is not going to end up only in history books. It will be embedded in the hearts of each Ukrainian for generations. What sociopaths miss is that Russia gained in Ukraine approximately 47,000 sqm of territory, equivalent to only 0.71% on the total land mass Russia already possessed before the war started, suffered approximately 1,000,000 causalities, or 0.07% of its population, wrecked its economy in the process, and earned the enmity of 37 million Ukrainians for this and for the immediate future generations. It will take decades for Ukrainians to forget what was done to them. This is largely sufficient not only to demonstrate that Putin is a scoundrel and a criminal, but also an incompetent state leader. Beginning with the reign of Ivan the Terrible in the 16th century, Russia managed to expand at an incredible rate of 50 square miles per day, eventually covering 1/6 of the earth’s landmass. Catherine the Great alone expanded Russia's territory by more than 200,000 square miles (520,000 square kilometers), while Stalin added more than 800,000 sqm to the Soviet empire in Europe alone, with the complicity of Hitler (in 1939), and of Churchill and Roosvelt in 1945. Despite all the appearances and the imperial pretensions, Putin is a poor amateur compared to his predecessors. 1 5 1

Popular Post spidermike007 Posted 6 hours ago Popular Post Posted 6 hours ago Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine has become quite a horrifying event, its butchery in plain view via saturation coverage for anyone with a video screen. But Americans may not yet have absorbed this disturbing reality: The American president has sided with the genocidal butcher. That's right: In the struggle now uniting the free world against an autocrat's lawless aggression, America's President has sided with the autocrat. One may ask why has Putin chosen to make his move on Ukraine? As many have pointed out, Russia is an objectively weak state — “Upper Volta with nuclear weapons,” as someone once quipped — with a nominal G.D.P. smaller than that of South Korea. Outside of energy, minerals and second-rate military equipment, it produces almost nothing that outsiders want: no Russian iPhone, Lexus or “Fauda.” If it were not for the minerals, oil and natural gas, I believe Russia would be a highly irrelevant state. Sure, it had alot of culture. Had. What have it's contributions been since the middle of the 20th century? Putin’s problem with Ukraine, starting with the Maidan uprising of 2014, is that most Ukrainians want nothing to do with him. He is despised. And for good reason. If he were a Disney character, he’d be Rapunzel’s mother. But, he is not a Disney character, which makes him a pathetic, aggressive, serial killing despot dictator, who appears to be targeting women and children in his latest escapade, and further walk into the world of darkness. 2 1 1

The war will end not in years or months but in weeks. You will be proven wrong yet again. Wrong about COVID, wrong about j6, wrong about US political dynamic, wrong about the election, wrong about the post election aftermath and you are wrong about the future... Trump administration will save the US financial system, deregulation will add no less than 1% to GDP which under Biden was propped up by USAID theft. Finally, you are totally, throughly and absolutely wrong about US neocon actions, verifiable US mischief in Ukraine for decades which forced Russia's hand into war. You aren't correct on any social issue to be blunt. As the cliche goes .. you are entirely on the wrong side of history. My late sister was as wrong about things as you are. She was once complaining about how life wasn't treating her very well shall I say. I told her - when you make a decision to do something - DO THE OPPOSITE. I would highly recommend you try the same because nothing you say has this least validity in reality. As for the war I'd ask members to have a look at John Mersheimer and Jeffery Sachs. Both clear headed political scientists who had this tragedy pegged from the get go. 2 2 1

Without significant security guarantees for Ukraine, the sovereign nation of Ukraine will be on the way to over, whether by arms or probably by way of installation of a Russian puppet. So much silly stuff in your post, but I will say the USAID budget is tiny relative to the entire budget and even cutting every last cent of it does basically nothing to address the deficit. 1 1

The comment by @The Legend who appears to be misnomer, fails to consider the complexity of the war in Ukraine, the immense human toll it has taken on the Ukrainian people, and the consequences of Russian aggression in Eastern Europe and beyond. First off, the comment dismisses the suffering of the Ukrainians who have lost their lives, homes, and loved ones in the war. This sort of callousness is incredibly insensitive and disrespectful. Secondly, it ignores the fact that Ukraine is fighting to preserve its sovereignty and democratic government against an invading force. @The Legend making that comment seems to be deeply misinformed and potentially influenced by Russian propaganda. Ukraine has been a sovereign nation since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, and it has held several democratic elections since then, including the election of Volodymyr Zelensky as president in 2019. The claim that Zelensky has “refused elections” is simply false. 1 2 1

connda Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago War's Hell. And the first casualty of war is Truth. Who do I believe? Those who pushed right up against Russia's border and then chose war when a peace agreement had been initialed in April 2022 - or - those who have now pushed half-way to the Dnieper River and are posed to keep pushing if the global powers (US and Russia as well as China) don't put this to an end. Fyi - the EU, UK, and Ukraine are essentially irrelevant. This will end when the global power bring it to an end. Until then. Well, war's hell. Both sides will point fingers at the other and scream, "War Crimes," but at the end, to the victor goes the spoils. 1 1
