  • I have a few life rules, some of which apply anywhere.   1/ Avoid debt like the plague.   2/ Exercise physically and mentally every day.   3/ Maintain a healthy body weig

  • Strict rules are useless IMHO. Just adapt to the environment to the best of your ability. Most important - DONT be a nuisance to others, at any cost.

After 20 years here i still fall for the Thai smile.

So much so that i practice it myself now.

Try it,it works.

Why? You want to show here that you Better  than what you really are?

No, just better than you, so as soon as you post in response to me, I've taken care of that

Mind your manners wherever you are...be polite and your life will be in a better place...

As long as we show  respect to what most Thais value; e.g. religion.

As well as being considerate and nice to others.

That looks like pretty much like the Bottom Line.

As long as it is exercised, most Thais are good neighbors.

Perception is reality

Following are the 10 rules I always live by in Asia. They've always served me well and have never caused me any issues:

Wherever I go in Asia, I always make sure I’m right there.

No matter where I fall asleep in Asia, that’s exactly where I wake up.

Anytime I check a clock in Asia, it’s always exactly the time right now.

Every meal I eat in Asia is the next one since the last.

No matter how far I walk in Asia, it always happens one step at a time.

Whenever I take a photo in Asia, it’s always of something I see in front of my camera lens.

Whatever song is playing in Asia, that’s the one I’m hearing.

Whichever direction I face in Asia, it’s always the way that I’m looking.

No matter how much money I spend in Asia, I always end up with exactly the amount that I have left.

Anyone new that I meet in Asia for the first time is always someone I didn’t know until I met them.

What's wrong with you?   You're Imagining Things.  😇

What is perception vs reality?

If you dive into the definitions of the two words “perception” and “reality,” you will see that reality excludes perception. Perception: A way of understanding or interpreting things. Reality: The state of things as they actually exist, rather than as they may be perceived or might be imagined.

I doubt that yago is better than many but either way I don't care. But plenty of people are better than plenty of others, we are not all the same, different people have different skills, styles, qualities, attitudes, strengths, weaknesses, etc.

Avoid toxic people, and basically live like Indo home when working.

Have weekdays, weekends, and holidays, strict diet with home made food, and exercise regime, but have cheat days when travelling.

Do not eat street food anymore, stay out of direct sun if not swimming or walking the beaches. Back home I walk early morning or afternoon.

to the title ...

No extra or different rules in Asia, than when I lived in the USA.   Just don't expect to be able to talk myself out of anything here, so simply behave myself.   But again, that's no different rule than in the past, when in any foreign country.   Keep a low profile, and off the radar of officials.

Didn't start travelling international till 1988, 33 yrs old, so mature enough, almost, to stay out of trouble.  Not doing any of the stupid sh!t that I did when younger.

Special rules for Asia?  I've never really thought about it.

Wherever I've been in the world, I've always tried to keep a low profile and go with the flow.  Usually, that works pretty well.

I avoid all confrontation,

Not only with the locals, but with other foreigners and my family.

Nope, not me, I'm the same.

Mind my own business, stay under the radar and avoid other foreigners, too many weirdos these days.

Yet hear you are, in a sure talking to a site dedicated mostly to foreigners living in Thailand.. Inconsistent and weird. You have to avoid other foreigners because you either have horrible social skills, or you have created an alternative backstory fir yourself that someone closer to where you come from would clock onto.

I'm here for the news articles.

I ONLY make comments to the article or OP.

It's only when I get hostile, stupid replies to my comments I interact with members.

I'm not here for friendship, I'm not a lonely insecure little person, like some, stuck in their 30m² room behind their warrior keyboard. I have a large family and many close friends (foreigners).
