A lot that claim they just pay taxes simply barely have taxes. Many with local jobs not even have a choice as it would be taken upfront.

im already doing the six months out of Thailand.  Just while the Thai government sorts itself out, if ever.  Until i get a for sure answer, i will continue to do this.  Vietnam by the way.  i am currently in Da Nang, Thai gf here with me, its enjoyable, and cheap, so not really an issue, and a nice break from Thainess!

Not if you work and earn in a tax free area of the world. If you are in a place where you pay taxes then you should pay but you shouldn't enter a double taxation system.

This law exist since 1972, so it is not new at all.

It looks many people doesn't kow the difference in between  making a 'tax declaration' and 'paying tax.' Depending on the agreement between your home country and Thailand you shall have to pay or not to pay but you have to do a tax declaration. All the rest I read here is nonsens..

I'm sure there are plenty of foreigners living in Thailand that don't ever use this forum.  They most likely have never heard anything about having to pay tax on their overseas income and probably never will.

Why would I not? Paying tax to Thailand means a large reduction on my total tax.

but is that medical care free from the US here in Thailand or overseas.  I have hospitalization free too if I am in the US but I am not so I pay for myself and my family full coverage here in THailand from a US health insurance company.  If you want to avoid taxes here on remitted income then get a a visa like the LTR.  Even ifyou work here you can get that and pay less tax.  But this is all part of the OECD plan that 136 countries I guess figured this was the only fair way to get their share.

I have a child's orphanage that I donate to regularly.  If I were confident that taxes paid would improve public education or better the lives of the less fortunate Thai people, I wouldn't mind.  However, cynical me believes a majority of my Thai taxes would go toward Government officials and military elite growing wealth.  In addition, if my taxes paid would give me permanent residence and a vote, then ok.
