Would you go to a meeting a bank called about buying a house and sign a purchase agreement that didn't list the amounts you were paying, the length of loan, the monthly payment schedule or the address of the house and just take the word of the bank it would be ok to fill those details in after you sign? That's exactly what Trump tried to do and said and Z corrected him.

Did you even watch the press conference?

Looks like you didn't watch the press conference. Volodymyr didn't "correct" Trump, he started arguing with JD Vance. Trump corrected Zelensky.

Maybe watch the video again.

Capitulate, you mean, throw Ukraine to the dogs....... 🤔

Naaah, you don't care about peace, you just care about Trumps stance.....:licklips:

You have to understand the type of people with whom you are dealing on these threads Trans because they are part of the MAGA/Trump alternate universe and the proof is here: –

– They believe the election was stolen and their cohorts pursued this through the courts and lost and Fox News agreed to pay Dominion $787.5 million and acknowledged the court's earlier ruling that Fox had broadcast false statements about Dominion. But the Trump goobers still believe the election was stolen – – if you can believe it.

– They also believe that the J6 storming of the capital building was merely a "peaceful demonstration" despite the footage showing otherwise.

– They supported Trump when he floated the "Obama birther lie", in effect ensuring that not only did Trump lie, so did they.

– Many on this thread and similar others have repeated the false accusation that the US gave Ukraine $300 billion, and that is certainly not the case, proven by reputable statistics.

– They support the man who has managed to bankrupt casinos and top-class hotels.

– They believe Trump wrote a book called "The Art of the Deal" when in fact he didn't write even one paragraph of it (probably because he's not that well educated).

– They support the man who started "Trump University", which turned out to be a huge scam, perpetrated by the ultimate grifter. Yet they won't acknowledge this.

– They support him still, although he did say that he was going to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it, and it didn't happen. In fact the American taxpayer paid for what little of it was built.

– And they bought into the "bone spurs" lie amongst many other lies that this orange clown has uttered.

Not enough time or room to be able to list all of the lies and dark deeds that the man wearing orange make up and hair spray has perpetrated – –hmmm, do you think he could be a closet queen?

So to get back to my initial point, there is nothing to be gained in arguing with fools who have been taken in by the ultimate grifter, because in the end they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!

You need to because you obviously missed comments made. He corrected both of them.  Put your hearing aide back in

You never answered the question just keep deflecting so I guess you would be stupid enough to fall for Trump tactics.

Zelensky is always seen in military attire to show solidarity with his troops, many of whom are crawling through cold, muddy trenches, risking their lives. He is respected by his military, far more than if he were prancing around dressed like some dandy as we see in the US. All respect to him.  His February approval rating in Ukraine  was 63%, far more than Trumps by the American people who must be disgusted and embarrassed after seeing this debacle with Putin's puppet in the white house.

Good post and this letter from Lech Walesa sums up the White House debacle by trump and vance and look carefully at the last paragraph........

Former President of Poland Lech Walesa wrote the following letter to Trump.

Your Excellency, Mr. President,

We watched the report of your conversation with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, with fear and distaste. We find it insulting that you expect Ukraine to show respect and gratitude for the material assistance provided by the United States in its fight against Russia. Gratitude is owed to the heroic Ukrainian soldiers who shed their blood in defense of the values of the free world. They have been dying on the front lines for more than 11 years in the name of these values and the independence of their homeland, which was attacked by Putin’s Russia.

We do not understand how the leader of a country that symbolizes the free world cannot recognize this.

Our alarm was also heightened by the atmosphere in the Oval Office during this conversation, which reminded us of the interrogations we endured at the hands of the Security Services and the debates in Communist courts. Prosecutors and judges, acting on behalf of the all-powerful communist political police, would explain to us that they held all the power while we held none. They demanded that we cease our activities, arguing that thousands of innocent people suffered because of us. They stripped us of our freedoms and civil rights because we refused to cooperate with the government or express gratitude for our oppression. We are shocked that President Volodymyr Zelensky was treated in the same manner.

The history of the 20th century shows that whenever the United States sought to distance itself from democratic values and its European allies, it ultimately became a threat to itself. President Woodrow Wilson understood this when he decided in 1917 that the United States must join World War I. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt understood this when, after the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941, he resolved that the war to defend America must be fought not only in the Pacific but also in Europe, in alliance with the nations under attack by the Third Reich.

We remember that without President Ronald Reagan and America’s financial commitment, the collapse of the Soviet empire would not have been possible. President Reagan recognized that millions of enslaved people suffered in Soviet Russia and the countries it had subjugated, including thousands of political prisoners who paid for their defense of democratic values with their freedom. His greatness lay, among other things, in his unwavering decision to call the USSR an “Empire of Evil” and to fight it decisively. We won, and today, the statue of President Ronald Reagan stands in Warsaw, facing the U.S. Embassy.

Mr. President, material aid—military and financial—can never be equated with the blood shed in the name of Ukraine’s independence and the freedom of Europe and the entire free world. Human life is priceless; its value cannot be measured in money. Gratitude is due to those who sacrifice their blood and their freedom. This is self-evident to us, the people of Solidarity, former political prisoners of the communist regime under Soviet Russia.

We call on the United States to uphold the guarantees made alongside Great Britain in the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, which established a direct obligation to defend Ukraine’s territorial integrity in exchange for its relinquishment of nuclear weapons. These guarantees are unconditional—there is no mention of treating such assistance as an economic transaction.

Signed,

Lech Wałęsa, former political prisoner, President of Poland

It's total denial of reality, isn't it? Even when there's a video of exactly what happened, they'll tell you, "no this happened".

Bizarre.

We can all see how Zelensky tried to insolently argue with JD Vance and was then slapped down by Trump. Yet they want to stylize Zelensky as having "corrected Trump". Zelensky could barely speak English.

Chummy, did your country come to the aid of Europeans regarding a tyrant aggressor....?

You started this thread just to try and belittle Ukraine's leader, yet it is very strange you say NOTHING about your leader's chum, Musk, who mainly dresses like a yob wherever he goes, why is that..?

Here's a reminder for you, how real Americans can see through your leaders ridiculous behaviour...🤔

PS. Strange that most of the Trumpers have disappeared from Trump threads, eh....  :whistling:

Still deflecting madly I see. If you want to start a discussion about Musk's fashion sense, be my guest.  But it bears no relevance here.

Musk is not a national leader. He was not invited to a formal meeting with the President in the Oval Office.  And, most importantly, he is not begging for billions of dollars.  Zelinsky is ALL of those things.

And his choice of attire said a lot about his attitude. And that attitude was on display in the meeting. He is arrogant enough to contradict and argue with the President of the United States, in front of the world press, in the President's Oval Office.  Now, that may be good for Zelinsky's fanboys but it is NOT good for his country.

Zelinsky was arrogant enough to not go through his interpreter when discussing very sensitive and serious topics. His English is quite good, more than adequate for casual discussions. But getting into a back-and-forth in a second language in such a setting was foolish.

You only need to see the reaction of the Ukranian ambassador to the US to get a hint as to how things went...

Behind and to the left of Zelensky.  Generally when a leader who is not fluent in English visits, they have an interpreter present. Often Trump will also have one behind HIM, behind and to the right, just to have clarity.  THey are genenrally kept out of frame when the leaders are photographed or filmed, but they do attend.

You can see in this photo a young man behind Zelensky , and an unused chair behind Trump.

So there are no independent Ukrainian and US interpreters there!

There must always be two, one from each side to check what the other is saying.

Even if they were in the room they were never used as there was never any break in dialogue to let them translate.

I assume you actually have watched the video?

Or read a transcript

It goes tits up from 38:35 when a Polish journalist, who had earlier referenced the Russian occupation of Poland. Before then, I would say it was going along fairly amicably. Just before, Zelensky made a fairly passionate statement about why he thought the agreement, in itself, wasn't going to be enough to stop the war, but it was a good start, but that he understood how Europe had to prioritise their relationship with the United States, and how Russia will need to pay reparations. He mentioned about the $300bn Europe had of Russian assets that could be put towards "renovation" (rebuilding), but its not enough. Trump talked about the ocean between US and Europe. Zelensky referenced this, about Russian expansonism, about the Baltic states, and how this will be a threat to the US. Rubio and Vance go off on some strange tangent about Free Speech, and I think referencing the action the UK is taking against Apple.

The President answered the question well rnough, and expressed some sympathy with Zelensky, about why he hated Putin. He finished and asked for "one more question". And then Vance interupted him; Vance had sat silent for most of the 35 minutes, except for his riff on free speech, with Rubio referencing the Munich speech (though didn't mention how Vance refused to meet the German government, but instead went and met the AfD Party). He wittered on about how actions were stronger than (Biden's) words, and then started going into diplomacy, which is all about words, so he got a bit confused in his Twitter argument played out in the Oval Office.

A few days later, Zelensky figured out rather than trying to put together ripostes in his third language, he'll take the cue of Macron who speaks excellent English, but speaks often in French when he wants to. If Zelensky had responded to Vance in Ukrainian, most of that stupidity from the VP wouldn't have been seen as he struggled with his earpiece.

Quote

Trump: “Well, if I didn't align myself with both of them, you'd never have a deal. You want me to say really terrible things about Putin and then say, ‘Hi, Vladimir. How are we doing on the deal?’ That doesn't work that way. I'm not aligned with Putin. I'm not aligned with anybody. I'm aligned with the United States of America, and for the good of the world, I'm aligned with the world, and I want to get this thing over with. You see, the hatred he's [Zelensky] got for Putin, it's very tough for me to make a deal with that kind of hate. He's got tremendous hatred, and I understand that, but I can tell you the other side is not exactly in love with him either. So it's not a question of alignment. I have to I'm aligned with the world. I want to get the thing set. I'm aligned with Europe. I want to see if we can get this thing done. You want me to be tough? I could be tougher than any human being you've ever seen. I'd be so tough, but you're never going to get a deal that way. So that's the way it goes. Er, one more question"

Vance: “I will respond to this. So look, for four years the United States of America, we had a president who stood up at press conferences and talked about Vladimir Putin, and then Putin invaded Ukraine and destroyed a significant chunk of the country. The path to peace and the path to prosperity is maybe engaging in diplomacy. We tried the pathway of Joe Biden, of thumping our chest and pretending that the President of the United States’ words mattered more than the President of the United States' actions. What makes America a good country is America engaging in diplomacy. That's what President Trump is doing.

Zelensky: [to Vance] Can I ask you [something]? Okay, so he occupied big parts of Ukraine, parts of the East and Crimea. So he occupied it on 2013 so during a lot of years, I'm not speaking about just Biden, but in those times there President Obama, then President Trump, then President Biden, now the President Trump. And God bless President Trump will stop him. But during 2014 nobody stopped him. He just occupied and took he killed people.

Trump: “2015!”

Vance: “2014 to 2015.”

Trump: “I was not here.”

Zelensky: “But during 2014 till 2022 the situation was the same, that people are been dying on the contact line. Nobody stopped him. You know that we had conversations with him, a lot of conversations, my bilateral conversation, and we signed with him. Me like a new president in 2019 I signed with him. The deal I signed with him, Macron and Merkel. We signed ceasefire, ceasefire. All of them told me that he will never go. We signed him with gas contract... but after that, he broken the ceasefire He killed our people, and he didn't exchange prisoners we signed the exchange of prisons but he didn't do it. What kind of diplomacy, JD, are you talking about. What do you mean?”

Vance: “I’m talking about the kind of diplomacy that’s going to end the destruction of your country… Mr. President, with respect, I think it's disrespectful for you to come to the Oval Office to try to litigate this in front of the American media. Right now, you guys are going around and forcing conscripts to the front lines because you have manpower problems. You should be thanking the president for trying to bring it into this conflict.”

Zelensky: “Have you ever been to Ukraine that you [can] say what problems we have? You should come once.”

Vance: “I've actually watched and seen the stories and I know what happens is you bring people, you bring them on a propaganda tour, Mr. President. Do you disagree that you've had problems?...And do you think that it's respectful to come to the Oval Office of the United States of America and attack the administration that is trying to prevent the destruction of your country?”

Zelensky: “[There are] a lot of questions. Let's start from the beginning. First of all, during the war, everybody has problems, even you, but you have a nice ocean [in between], and don't feel it now, but you will feel it in the future. God bless you.”

Trump: “Don't tell us what we're going to feel. We're trying to solve a problem. Don't tell us what we're going to feel… because you're in no position to dictate that. Remember this, you're in no position to dictate what we're going to feel. We're going to feel good. We're gonna feel very good and very strong.”

Zelensky: “You will feel the influence. I’m telling you now you will feel the influence.”

Trump: “You're right now, not in a very good position. You're not in a good position. You don't have the cards right now with us.”

Zelensky: “I’m not playing cards right now, I’m very serious Mr President. I am a wartime president.”

Trump: [shouting] “You're gambling with the lives of millions of people. You're gambling with World War Three. You're gambling with World War Three, and what you're doing is very disrespectful to the country, this country, far more than a lot of people say they should.”

Vance: “Have you said thank you once?”

Zelensky: “A lot of times. Even today.”

Vance: “You went to Pennsylvania and campaigned for the opposition in October, offer some words of appreciation to the United States of America and the president who's trying to save your country.”

Zelensky: “Please. You think that if you will speak very loudly about the war…”

Trump: “He‘s not speaking loudly. Your country is in big trouble. Wait a minute. No, no, you‘ve done a lot of talking. Your country is in big trouble. You‘re not winning. You‘re not winning this. You have a damn good chance of coming out, okay Because of us.

Zelensky: “I know… We are staying strong in our country. From the very beginning of the war, we‘ve been alone, and we are thankful. I said thanks in this cabinet.”

Trump: [shouting again] “You haven’t been alone. We gave you, through the stupid president, $350 billion. We gave you military equipment. You and your men are brave, but they had to use our military [equipment.] If you didn‘t have our military equipment this war would have been over in two weeks.

Zelensky: “In three days. Yes, I heard it from Putin ‘in three days’…. in two weeks.”

Trump: “Maybe less… It‘s going to be a very hard thing to do business like this, I tell you.”

Vance: “Just say thank you, accept that there are disagreements, and let's goTrump: “What if anything? What if a bomb drops on your head right now? Okay, what if they broke it? I don‘t know. They broke it with Biden because Biden didn‘t respect him. They didn‘t respect Obama. They respect me. Let me tell you, Putin went through a hell of a lot with me. He went through a phony witch hunt where they used him and Russia, Russia, Russia, Russia ... You ever hear of that deal? That was a phony. That was a phony Hunter Biden, Joe Biden scam. Hillary Clinton, shifty Adam Schiff, it was a Democrat scam. And he had to go through that. And he did go through it. We didn‘t end up in a war. And he went through it. He was accused of all that stuff. He had nothing to do with it. It came out of Hunter Biden‘s bathroom. It came out of Hunter Biden‘s bedroom. It was disgusting. And then they said, oh, oh, the laptop from hell was made by Russia. The 51 agents The whole thing was a scam. And he had to put up with that. He was being accused of all that stuff. All I can say is this: he might have broken deals with Obama and Bush, and he might have broken them with Biden. He did maybe, maybe he didn‘t. I don‘t know what happened, but he didn‘t break them with me. He wants to make a deal… litigate those disagreements rather than trying to fight it out of the American media, when you're wrong, we know that you're wrong.”

Zelensky: “I said it a lot of times to the American people.”

Trump: “I think it’s important for the American people to see what’s going on. That's why I kept this going so long [to Zelensky]. You have to be thankful you don‘t have the cards. Your people are dying. You‘re running low on soldiers... Then you tell us. I don‘t want a ceasefire. I don‘t want a ceasefire… I look, if you could get a ceasefire right now, I tell you, you take it. So the bullets stop flying and your men stop getting killed…

…That wasn‘t with me. That was with a guy named Biden who was not a smart person. That was with Obama. Excuse me? That was with Obama, who gave you sheets and I gave you javelins. Yes. I gave you the javelins to take out all those tanks. Obama gave you sheets. In fact, the statement is Obama gave sheets and Trump gave javelins.
