Does anyone know how far in advance a visa can be issued prior to the working date start as stated in the employment contract. I read "around 60 days" but can't see this anywhere officially.

Are you going to be obtaining a work permit?

If so, you must obtain an extension based on work permit before the Non-B visa expires.

To get the extension, you must complete the work permit process before applying for the extension.

You can apply for the extension within 30 days prior to the visa expiration.

It should not take more than a week to complete the work permit.

Mine was completed by my agent in 3 days, once the proper documents were in order.

So, the "around 60 days" seems like a decent estimate.

 

Sorry I should have been more specific, I see that now.  This is for the first non-B working visa that is issued to an individual by them obtaining it outside Thailand. They will then proceed to Thailand an apply for their first work permit.

I would but I would have to leave the country to do that. I will ask CM immigration tomorrow to see if they know.

When you are granted a work permit typically you also recieve a permission to stay extension.

 

Mine was done first week of my ariving in Thailand...my Non B was a 90 day single entry.

You don't have to leave the country to ask a question to an embassy? That doesn't make sense. Look up the contact information for the embassy you would use and then contact them and ask them a question. Location is irrelevant.

Agreed but in my experience they are very slow at responding or sometimes don't respond depending on the question.

What I described was not a "renewal".

It is the process I went through for my first work permit, and the following extensions based on the WP.

Ok sorry for misunderstanding. How many days in advance did you come to Thailand before the start of your working contract (when you arrived on your non-immigrant B working visa) can you recall?

My "contract" was to start one month after I re-entered Thailand, but the company belonged to me, so I managed all of the details - that made life much simpler. In your case, I think you need at least the week that it will take to complete the work permit. Two weeks to be sure.
