Good to see Trump using all the tools and avenues available to him to rid the US of foreign criminals.

He's learnt a lot from the first term. No messing this time.

Also, no one is going to try that stupid Russia hoax on him again, and he isn't surrounded by bad actors like Bolton and Kelly.

Whatever laws he needs to use to get the criminals out, just do it.

"Trump announced on Saturday that he had signed a proclamation declaring that the Tren de Aragua gang was "conducting irregular warfare" against the US and he would deport its members under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.

That evening, US District Judge James Boasberg in Washington DC ordered a 14-day halt to deportations covered by Trump's proclamation, pending further legal arguments.

After lawyers told him that planes with deportees had already taken off, Judge Boasberg gave a verbal order for the flights to turn back, US media reported, although that directive did not form part of his written ruling.

So they have already landed in El Salvador...good riddance!!!

And to continue the story: President Trump has told this leftist judge to....you guessed it ..."Take a big step backward and....". :cheesy:

We'll leave as soon as the "Aussies" surrender to the Aborigines and move back to the UK. :cheesy:

If you're going to claim it, cite it. Maybe we can all learn.
What law did congress pass that pertains to this ?

Hmm, OK, Congress passed the law cited in the post. As written  for use in wartime. Trump claiming there is a war on does not make it so. As well document this law has been used only in time of war as designed War of 1812, WW I, WW II. War can only legally be declared by Congress.

As I read it in the right wing press, the 5 deportees that brought suit are still in the USA.

The judge overstepped his remit by including all the other deportees who weren't named in the suit.  Judges can't proactively make rules.  They're only allowed to rule on what's been brought before them.

Score another for Team Trump.  Keeping campaign promises.

Edit:  I'm open to being corrected.  It is a fast changing story.

Indeed we are being overwhelmed by the rapid appearance of multiple issues where Trump and the Project 2025 ilk are testing the bounds of law. This is one instance and since I have not read the court filed document, I will not bet my life on the particulars which will be made clearer in the coming days. I recommend listening to the interview with Attorney To Cobb on the Judges background. Any attack citing him as Trump publicly did is false on the basis of his judicial record. Yes, agree, Trump is doing what he said he would do ... for supporters I recognize they can duly claim credit and all responsibility for the results ... have at it. Yes, I stand opposed to "chainsaw" tactics ... not to thoughtful, reasoned review of all law/regulation.

Because the law requires that America be in an actual state of war. And not in a state of hysteria.

Or you could look at it from the flipside.  A bunch of unelected, activist judges (of very minor stature) are testing the bounds of law.

Not me, the big boys did it and then ran away!

A week ago, last Saturday he announced that he had signed the order.

Now he tells a barefaced lie, denying he did it.

He is a lying lier, who lies!

Even Dr Goebbels who rather wrote the authoritarian handbook on telling the big lie would not have lied so blatantly!
