Thai immigration police have detained 14 migrant workers in a karaoke restaurant in the Lat Krabang area, Bangkok, following a tip-off about illegal employment.

On 25th March, Pol Lt Gen Phanumas Boonyalak, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, alongside Pol Maj Gen Prasart Khemmasitthi, ordered a team led by Pol Col Pholsit Sutthiart and Pol Lt Col Pornchai Sukkacharoen to investigate a local restaurant suspected of hiring illegal migrant workers.

Undercover officers confirmed the presence of foreign nationals working as drink companions at the venue.

Upon raiding the premises, officers apprehended 14 foreign nationals who admitted to entering Thailand legally but working illegally as servers and drink companions for a daily wage of 150 baht.

These individuals, employed for approximately 1-2 months, now face charges for working without a permit and have been referred to Romklao Police Station for legal proceedings.

Pol Maj Gen Prasart Khemmasitthi emphasised the government's concern over illegal migrant labour and its impact on local employment.

The Royal Thai Police have been instructed to intensify efforts to prevent and prosecute such activities. Citizens are encouraged to report illegal employment of migrants to the Immigration Bureau or by calling 1178.

It appears they also got free meals.

Yes, 150 Baht / Day is well below the minimum wage, however, looking at the photo, one would suspect they received payment in pies of some description.

Yeah, some heifers there huh? The clothes are kind of bargain too, they arent even Beach Road or Soi Nana level.

There was a Uzbek/Kazakh blonde on Soi Nana the other night with a nice slinky bod and a set of teeth that were the finest product of Soviet dentistry. I got so frightened I did a double ya dom stuff and crossed the street to where the african girls were.

Nice neighborhood bro. If we ever argue on politics, note well you are my type of dude. Nana Burgers are fabulous, if I lived down there I would eat there everynight for the 6 months or so it would take me to go bankrupt.

The young one across from Ladyboy corner with the flaming blonde hair and the horse teeth and tight leather skirt? She probably has a plucked unibrow. In front of the Maison Hotel there? Scarecrow is a good analogy

Have you seen the world famous Schoolgirl outside Nana?

I would've passed that place by and looked for something better.

Well if any newbies are doing their research about Thailand, they should know that folks dont go to Lat Krabang to party

Looks that the Thai cops in Bangkok or Hua Hin are arresting foreigners as far as possible to get some extra bonus money.  They should rather be enforcing the law on the dangerous Thai drivers on the roads.

If my wife ever caught me with a woman like she would burst out laughing, losing you touch old man?

You are a privileged fat, old, balding white male making fun of poor brown women.

Wait. They should be heavily fining the owners of this place and a little stint in jail wouldn’t hurt to deter more places from hiring foreigners without a work permit. They are the ones that are taking “jobs” away from the locals.

I'm reminded of a comment made in the British press years ago regarding Polish workers 'coming over here and stealing our jobs'

The comment has stayed with me:

'If Polish workers have been coming over here, speaking English as a second language, not being familiar with British ways of doing things and are still seen as a better employment option, then surely the onus is on British workers to up their game no?'

But then I'm a fan of fair competition as opposed to government control. Quite simply, if the education and training of Thai staff were to a higher standard then Thai jobs would not be in peril, regardless of the industry. Best person for the job and all that.

It's a global market these days - as those of us who work in the tech industry know all too well. Being globally competitive is the way forward. Government interference in such matters is not going to raise the quality of goods and services offered in the Kingdom.
