Elon Musk Breaks Rank, Rages Against Donald Trump's Tariffs Is the honeymoon over?

Featured Replies

Billionaire Elon Musk and president Donald Trump's long, balmy honeymoon may finally be coming to a close.

Over the weekend, Musk lashed out at the architect of Trump's catastrophic tariff policy, which has ravaged international markets and stoked fears of an imminent recession.

In a tweet, Musk took aim at Trump's advisor on trade and manufacturing, Peter Navarro — a proxy for Trump himself, who continues to stand for his draconian tariffs even as the stock market slides precipitously.

Any bets on whether Musk lasts 130 days?

Does anyone think Musk was in it for anything other than himself? It must be hurting Musk's pocket- perhaps women won't want his babies any more. Musk should go on the first trip to Mars, ASAP, and never come back. On Mars, no one can hear you cry.

Markets don't lie, unlike political leaders. The proof hit you with a face ripping market rally (green spike) when a rumor of tariff 90 day pause mistakenly hit the wires, only to be corrected to reality soon after yesterday.

Assuming the truth of anonymous reports, I am glad to see discussion and disagreement within Trumps circle. Decisions should be the product of consensus looking at all sides, as opposed to ideological Socialist lockstep, or even worse, the product of unlawful and unconstitutional assumptions of power.

Funny how a minor argument over a policy is turned into a circus by a bunch of propagandists when the scandal of how was running the country for the prior four years is ignored.

As modified and attributed to Senator William McKinley Dirksen (even though he claims he never said it):

A trillion dollars here and a trillion dollars there, and pretty soon you're talking real money.

Musk foolishly placed his money on Tesla being dominant in China. The Chinese bought his cars initially, then stole his technology, and now have him boxed in. He'll do anything to remain in Xi's good graces. Elon does well with rockets and space technology. He should focus on that and shut the hell up about everything else.

Musk's strategy was to finance other activities with the cash generated by Tesla. He's in deep <deleted>!

You would characterize Musks public flaming of Navarro as part of a discussion? It looks more like what psychologist vall displaced anger. Like in the case of  someone who can't kick their spouse so they kick the dog instead.

Like someone that screeches on a Forum if he has a wet fart and its Trumps fault for tariffing Beano.

Trump far as I know has no friends, just means to an end, so I'm not surprised he and Musk got along- two friendless guys with a common goal, and I'm not surprised that it seems that they have a disagreement. Musk apparently wants to populate Mars on his own and make a lot of money, while Trump actually does want to make America great ( though his idea of great is not necessarily the same as anyone else's ). I say that because he is rich and could just have played golf and talked BS with the "friend of the moment". He didn't have to become POTUS and get half the world hating him ( even the Clintons were pals with him before ). No one chooses to have the <deleted> he has had if one has the choice.

IMO Musk's problem is that he actually believes his own BS, and thinks he is more clever than anyone else. He is, after all, someone that called a real hero a paedo because he disagreed with Musk's bonkers submarine idea.

Musk should stay home and be a father to all the unfortunate children he sired.

How really funny that Elona's cars are made in China

It could be that he signaling to the Chinese government that what's going on in regard to tariffs is not his fault. It's uncertain how mollified they will be.

Some parts maybe.

Tesla currently operates out of four full-operational facilities. Three are in the United States, and one is in China.

Incomplete. It has a huge plant in Germany. Although, given the state of its European sales, it may not be there for long.

Having paid to help win the election, Elon discovers that things are not as rosy as he expected.

So only parts that come from China to make Tesla's in the US will get more expensive because of the tariffs.

Others like the Tesla's made in Germany , will get the tariffs germans put on parts coming in from China or the US.

How much is the tariff Thailand charges for China made Tesla's ?

Well, I guess that's the end of Trump's "man date".

Don't trivialize it. It was a serious, meaningful bromance.

"Tesla relies on China for a significant portion of its battery supply chain, with nearly 40% of its battery material suppliers being Chinese companies. Additionally, Tesla's Gigafactory in Shanghai is a major production hub, with over 95% of components supplied to the plant being made in China."

An EV doesn't really go very far without a battery.

He doesn't need Elon anymore. He's got Laura Loomer again, that white supremacist, Neo Nazi sympathizer and 9-11 Truther.

As always, the Best People.

Tesla operates four electric car factories around the world—in California, China, Texas and Germany. However, one of them is crucial from the volume perspective: Tesla Giga Shanghai in China.

Even the most perfect marriage has differences of opinions. Both Trump and Musk are masters of their trade and might approach a situation in a different light. Complaining everyday about Trump and Musk will bring ones blood pressure up and is not good for ones health. People need to love the Trump and even Musk. Breath in, breath out and enjoy that Trump is making American great again.

Navarro is rabidly anit-Commie-China.

Musk wishes to see zero tariffs between trading partners USA and Europe.

This is a good thing.

Note: Some here, though, do not understand MUSK.  Here is a vid that might help:

That was your original post .....

Car parts in Nevada too.

Gigafactory 1 – Giga Nevada

Gigafactory 1, in Sparks, Nevada outside of Reno is the first of Tesla’s growing assemblage of production facilities. This Gigafactory produces electric motors and lithium-ion battery packs for the Model 3 sedan. It also manufactures Tesla’s energy storage products Powerwall and Powerpack of which it inherited from the Fremont factory in 2015.

Gigafactory 2 – Giga New York

In 2019, Tesla added new production lines that will support electrical components for Supercharger and energy storage products.

How really funny that Elona's cars are made in China ?????

Yes a lot of them , but only one factory against what now ? 5 others.

Navarro is rabidly pro tariff everywhere.

I doubt that Trump thinks zero tariffs between the . USA and Europe are a good thing. But maybe you could share some evidence with the rest of us but this is the case?
