A British man is in critical condition after reportedly shooting himself in the head while playing Russian roulette under the influence of cannabis and nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas”. The incident took place at a condominium in Chaiyapruek 1 Soi 3, Pattaya, during night of 8 April.

At 21:35, Pol. Lt. Col. Panasarn Khrongsit, deputy inspector of Pattaya City Police Station, received a report of a foreign national who had sustained a serious gunshot wound to the head. He immediately notified Pol. Col. Anek Srathongyu, Superintendent of Pattaya Police Station, and coordinated with Pol. Lt. Col. Apichat Jarurak, a senior officer with the Tourist Police Division, as well as local rescue workers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation.

Upon arrival at the 11th-floor room (number 1119) of the condominium, rescue teams found a man later identified only as “Michael,” a British national, lying unconscious in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to the centre of his forehead. Emergency medical responders performed CPR at the scene before rushing him to hospital in a critical condition.

The scene showed clear evidence of substance use. Blood was splattered across the floor, and several used balloons were found, believed to have contained nitrous oxide. A revolver, identified as a .38 calibre handgun, was also recovered with one spent shell casing still inside the chamber.

A 29-year-old Lithuanian national, identified only as Mr. J, who shared the condo with the victim, told police that Michael had consumed cannabis and inhaled nitrous oxide before suggesting they play Russian roulette. Mr. J said he refused and went to lie down, only to hear the sound of the revolver clicking, followed shortly after by a loud gunshot. He rushed over to find his friend critically injured and immediately alerted another friend to contact the authorities while he sought help from the building’s security personnel.

Pattaya police, along with forensic officers from Chonburi’s Region 2 Scientific Crime Detection Centre, are conducting a detailed investigation. Evidence has been collected from the room, and Mr. J has been taken in for questioning. Authorities are now trying to determine the origin of the firearm.

Police stated that further forensic testing, including gunshot residue analysis on both the victim and his roommate, will be conducted to clarify the circumstances leading up to the incident.

The case remains under investigation.

Who brought a .38 to a gas party is question number one surely 🤔

Not that I'm an expert in anything Russian, but I thought the traditional method was to spin the chamber and point the revolver sideways at your temple, or possibly stick the barrel in your mouth.

Holding the revolver backwards pointing at the centre of one's forehead seems untraditional and somewhat contortive.

Something odd about the story the roommate is advancing. Unless of course they were doing it One Eight Seven style.   :coffee1:

Anyone keeping count of which country the most crazies are coming from?  Wasn't sure before but seems to be a clear winner emerging and on a regular basis from watching the news.

Yeah, but that´s fair if people take turns. This guy was stupid enough to play RR with himself. Who knows, maybe he thought he would win.

He is alive because the bullet missed his brain. Apparently, there wasn't one.

After three separate attacks on Thais by Brits this week it looks like we are turning on ourselves now.
All four over the age of 25 so should know better.

It is starting to look like Brit males born after 1970 never fully develop.

they have much lower sperm counts also, it might be the microplastics.

Or the chemicals in the “party” drugs.

It would be an an interesting ’factual study’… to proportionately identify arrest based on nationally & population…

i.e. xx arrests per 100,000 British visitors etc

We can’t go off news reports alone as there is a heavy influence of bias towards ‘western readership’… along with the prevailing attitude & sentiment at the time which ebbs and flows with the prevailing rhetoric & biases which self feed.

Ignoring neighboring countries & migrant laborers… If I’m not mistaken the Chinese top the arrest charts in Thailand …. But that’s not unexpected as they are here in far greater numbers than other nationality’s, thus if we wish to achieve a realistic comparison it’s important to source & handle any data intelligently…
