Trump visit to U.K. in September

Featured Replies

US President Donald Trump has suggested Buckingham Palace is "setting a date for September" for his second state visit to the UK.

The president told reporters in the White House on Thursday evening: "I was invited by the King and the country - great country."

It comes after Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer handed Trump an invitation letter from King Charles in February during his visit to Washington. Buckingham Palace is yet to confirm a date for the state visit.

Trump was hosted by the late Queen Elizabeth II during his previous three-day state visit in 2019, which took place during his first term in office.

Traditionally second-term US presidents are not offered a state visit and have instead been invited for tea or lunch with the monarch at Windsor Castle.

King Charles to throw a sickie? Prince William too busy visiting a Coastguard base, on the day, apologies sent. The 47th President left inspecting His Majesty's crack Royal Logistical Corps 150 Regiment (TA), accompanied by the Duck (!) of Edinburgh (Prince Eddie, the Actor Royal), accompanied by Capt (rtd) Mark "Froggie" Francois, MP, BA, MA, aka Uncle Albert, who will fill in the awkward gaps with how he approached the  bacon buttiie shortage using Combined Arms in 1983, and how he fought in the trenches during the Brexit Wars, alongside Sqn Leader Steve "Chips" Baker.

He could be arrested for online bullying, worldwide.

Jeez, Grow up,

The event doesnt get cancelled because some screetchy libtards don't like him. It doesn't work like that.

Just likenyou don't get a 2nd Brexit vote because you didn't like the result.

Trump has supporters/fans in the UK, same as every other country, they will welcome his visit.

Indeed.

The devil(s) will be lurking in the detail.

Britain must allow US chlorine-washed chicken into UK markets if it wants relief from sweeping tariffs, Donald Trump has indicated.

In general, you are over seven times more likely to get food poisoning in the US than in the UK, according to data from the UK’s Food Standards Agency (FSA) and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

A remarkable and wide ranging claim.

All the evidence suggests that the majority opinion in the UK is that Trump is rather disliked. I regard him as an oafish amoral bully, driven by self interest, greed, blatant narcissism and a total disregard for constitutional constraints or democracy. Now far from suggesting that I represent public opinion in the UK, but perhaps it does tend rather more towards my view than that of @Magictoad?

I regard the whole "net zero" idea as silly, and am concerned about aspects of immigration and threats to freedom of expression in the UK. Trump has nothing to do with either. This invitation was so obviously a rather crass and undignified attempt by Starmer's government, itself unpopular, to steal what he imagined to be "a march" on other European countries. His Majesty the King has little choice but to go along with his government in this matter, albeit no doubt holding his nose!

One thing may change matters, any further threats or claims to Canada (or indeed Greenland).

The majority of the UK doesn't like the result.

That is incorrect, the 'majority' won. Not by much, but you cannot change the rules after the result.

The toxic masculinity charade again. Male-bashing may have been why many men voted for Trump though having little to gain from most of his policies?

Dress it any way you want, the "result" is not what was wanted.

The referendum was a farce, based on the UK's fixation with a 50/50 benchmark.

No other country in the world holds a referendum on that basis. There has only ever been 3 National referendums and there never be another one without significant change.

A fractional majority got what they voted for and everyone has to live with mess it created.

It is all about standards, but you would need to understand what that means.

A lack of standards has bothered people since time started.

That's all well & good, if you didn't remainers didn't expect to lose, there woildnt have been any discussion of a 2nd had they won, the conversation wouldn't have even been entertained. So you all look like sore losers. But now stamer is in he can donall sorts of tongue bathing to the EU and go against the wishes of the brexiteers

Trump must be very disappointed by Charles lily livered response to the current situation in the UK.

I hope him and Vance explain things to him clearly.

Trump loved the Queen. Rightly so. I hope William can get things back to that level. Staring with removing the titles of Harry and Rachel.

Hopefully he will not be allowed back into the USA.

So many UK people strongly hate what he is doing to America and to world trade making poorer countries poorer, making poor poorer, cutting support for veterans, sick, elderly, being bigoted to anyone except billionaires, but he is going to crash economies as ppl now sell off US shares, but most important sell off US bonds which drives up US government  borrowing costs. US pension pots are declining as $ trillions disappear. Awful problems to come.

Many ppl will go to London to protest because too we are frightened of Brexit crazy Farage who made UK poorer too.

Trump should go to that viper pit.

British intelligence has been actively working against him.

Not safe. King Charles is a globalist , the kind Trump is fighting against.
