Gyms for sale?? Or start one

Featured Replies

I was at work last night

A guy asked me " George what will you do when you retire ?

For some reason I blurted out "probably buy a gym in Pattaya !

And today I have decided to RESEARCH gyms particularly in Pattaya

I don't want a start a expensive gym , I will be happy with a profit of 10,000 a month

I want an "old school" type gym.

Would a gym be easy to start in Pattaya ?

No air conditioning I don't like it

I wonder if Tony's is for sale or that gym just up from Tony's , international?

I went in there once ,very very "old school" lol

I looked at Bear gym in Jomtien last year , lucky I didn't buy it ,it closed down.

Maybe I should start a gym

If anyone knows let me know

Got one for sale

Location - Roi Et

Price 3m baht

Location is important for a gym in Pattaya

Jomtien has too many ,in fact every condo has one

I may have to look for non farang area and start a cheap old school gym mainly for a Thai customer

I may have to look at that Darkside area

I wasn't happy with that Jomtien gym ( since moved ) who had a fingerprint / finger scanner to gain entry

I watched as one guy picked his nose then used his finger to scan in

As for BEAR GYM , it closed ,the owner wanted 4 million baht then dropped to 3 million baht

Earlier this year he ended up closing

I'm not sure why it didn't succeed ,it was there for 10 years ,anyone ever go there ?

No they do not

Bodybuilders love only bodybuilding gyms

Powerlifters love powerlifting

ALL totally different from fighting sports gyms

And if you don't believe me...ask them !!!

Would you fulfill the legal requirements to buy a gym? Having sorted this point go for research. However, to find qualified staff might be an obstacle. Also "no air con". I personally don't like to smell my neighbours sweat (or farts)

I can assure you I won't be signing up for a gym

At well over 70 years young I will carry on with my afternoon walking 🚶‍♂️ exercise out for a hour daily

Good luck on the gym enterprise

If I were you I think I'd first try mastering the art of getting suitable holiday accomodation for a few weeks, as failure in that department seems to end up with you crying yourself onto the plane every trip vowing to do us all a favour and never return.

How good are your sales skills?  Gyms are not about working out or even the equipment.  It is about selling memberships.   Most businesses are about selling.  People get confused.  They think all these people will just magically show up and want a membership.  Maybe 2 a month do, but for the other 100 you need to get signed up and the 300 in January you need signed up to even pay your rent or buy new equipment or pay staff, you need to sell sell sell.  Potentially you can hire this out, but they're probably never as good or interested as you are.

People too often forget that most businesses are very little about the business and 99% of the success is how well you can sell.  Show me almost every failing business, and I will show you sales solve everything.  or almost everything.

Take a look at Moves Like A Human in Bangkok. He's a trainer. With a waiting list.

True. Sell the sizzle.

A gym today needs nice girls working out. Give young girls free membership, the rest will work out if you are a social salesman who knows the fitness business and also do have a physic and professional attitude.

Most of the gyms I signed up with and willing to pay the extra baht for, had inspiring people and pretty much the same regulars every week showing up the same time.

Had a lounge for protein shakes, but not really necessary.

Two options, fully equipped aircon/fan gyms with clean toilets and showers, or as you say simple outdoor gyms with fans only, and alot of freeweights. Towels and good hygienic facilities necessary and reliable staff.

Used to be one in soi 88 in Hua Hin I signed up with. Pretty good gym, with massage, diverse classes, a smoothie bar, and restaurant. Always clean and for time being I think I paid 1800 a month.

For a foreigner, getting reliable staff is the hardest thing when starting a business

Hey bro

How are you going with this?

Im an Aussie with a plan to do exactly the same thing - either buy or open a gym in Pattaya?

.. im actually looking at Pattaya, Rayong or Hua Hin... I need to be near a beach and reasonably easy access to an international airport.

If proximity to Suvarnabhumi Airport is important, forget about Hua Hin.

It can take about four hours from Hua Hin, compared to an hour and a half from Pattaya, and two to two and a half hours from Rayong.

Ask @Battle.N.Conquer, top of.SOI 5 Pratumnak. Old school, old hard men @ the ready to give u some lesssons in life and take your Super payout.GG🤣

I know... happy with this.

Better than up north, Isan or down the peninsula ie Chompon.

Thanks for the feedback.
