Popular Post snoop1130 Posted yesterday at 11:32 AM Popular Post Posted yesterday at 11:32 AM Picture courtesy of KhaoSod In an extraordinary incident in eastern Thailand, a woman shocked hospital staff by arriving with the 3-metre-long king cobra that had bitten her. Supin Wanphen was foraging for mushrooms in Sa Kaeo's Watthana Nakhon district on April 19 when the snake bit her, leaving a severe wound on her left leg. A Facebook post celebrating Supin's bravery described her astonishing response to the attack. Despite the danger, she managed to kill the cobra with her own hands and bring it along when seeking medical help. This remarkable display of courage quickly became a viral sensation online. Supin's bravery didn't just stop at subduing the deadly serpent; she sought medical attention promptly, which proved crucial. Her quick thinking and decisive actions meant she was able to receive the necessary treatment and is now safely out of ICU. The incident highlights not only the potential dangers of encountering wildlife but also the resilience of those living in regions where such encounters are more common. Supin's story serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of the wild and the importance of immediate medical attention in cases of venomous bites. Best to keep it that way... however it's usually the one you don't see that gets you. 1 1 1
Watawattana Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Wow, so brave. If she has a husband/boyfriend he better look out! Any naughty naughty might lead to the trouser python getting the same fate! 1

E.G. machete or sickle. With machete, must be pretty easy to put down the snake. Or she might stomp it with a big rock in the head. 1

renaissanc Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago We have 26 cats. It is unwise for snakes or a mouse to enter Catdom with so many cats roaming around during the day. Sometimes, a cat brings back a small cobra from the neighbour's land, usually dead by now, and then presents it to my wife and/or me. "Look! Aren't I clever!" The cats do this when they find an outdoor lizard or other creature. Cockroaches are taken care of at night by Cyril the Toad who lives in a pipe in the kitchen. The pipe is used to let washing machine water flow into the back garden. The cats let Cyril wander around the kitchen and don't bother him. Snakes are rare in Catdom. Maybe once a year, a large and long cobra finds its way into the garden, totally ignoring the presence of the 26 cats. I'll kill it with a digging tool to protect the cats and thereby restore peace in Catdom. The monitor lizard next door gets it as a snack afterwards. 1
WDSmart Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago So, who was more deadly, the Thai woman or the snake? 😞

With so many cats, maybe you could spare a few to feed the poor king Cobra, rather than decapitating him? The large cobras generally prey on other snakes - so do not pose much threat to you or your cats - unless you or they deliberately annoy or attack the snake.

Decades ago, in Thailand, this was the official advice and still holds true. Most districts stock anti-venoms and positively identifying the snake species ensures the correct treatment promptly.

When faced with a snake especially a viper or cobra, I can assure you they are fast and not that easy to kill from my experience and I would not be using a short handle machete or sickle.

Hi, thank you for sharing your experience. How did you counter that threat? Did you run? Or fought and finished it off with something else?
norsurin Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago When i lived in surin i saw many king cobras. One time in the middle of day one dog start barking just behind our house.I went back and saw he barks at 2 big king cobras.I called for my exwife brother and he came.He managed to kill both fast.He start digging where the cobras was and he found 35 cobra eggs.He put gasoline on the eggs and burned it all. That night we ate snakesoup for dinner.
pacovl46 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago There was absolutely no need to kill the snake. Everyone and their dog knows what a king cobra looks like. Also, kings cobras usually make a major fuss when you get near them, which tells me that she might have been trying to kill the snake for food and in the process got bit. 1 1

I had trouble the other day killing a 80 cm long but only 1,5 cm thick snake with a shovel. It kept raizing its head , would not die. This one in the OP , is a big MF nd the woman was already bitten.
