Crime Iranian Nationals Arrested in Pattaya for Stealing Money from Tourists

On the afternoon of April 28, the Pattaya Tourist Police held a press conference after successfully apprehending a couple of Iranian nationals who had been targeting tourists in the area. The couple, identified as Mr. Ahmadi Fiooj Hooshang, 49, and Mrs. Mahmodi Kiya Ameneh, 42, were arrested on charges of theft and receiving stolen property.

 

The couple had been engaging in a deceptive scam, approaching tourists and requesting to see their US dollar bills. Once the unsuspecting tourists showed their money, the pair used a trick and deceit to steal some of the money before returning it. One such incident occurred on the evening of April 24, when a tourist from Israel reported that they had been duped by a man and woman, both of whom appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent, who had asked to inspect their money. The tourist noticed later that $700 had gone missing from their wallet.

 

The crime took place outside the Twin Palm Resort, and the Pattaya Tourist Police swiftly investigated the matter, gathering information from the victim. The authorities tracked the suspects to a room in the Jomtien area, where they were found to match the descriptions given by the victim. During a search of their accommodation, police found the same clothing worn by the suspects during the theft. Furthermore, in their wallet, police discovered seven $100 bills.

 

Both suspects were arrested and taken to Pattaya Police Station, where they were formally charged with theft at night and receiving stolen property. They are now facing legal proceedings.

 

The Tourist Police Bureau also issued a reminder to both tourists and general public to remain vigilant regarding their personal belongings and report any suspicious activities

A long time ago, but I've had that happen a few times to me where abroad someone approaches and wants to see what money looks like. I don't even recall my response but if I had been carrying around 700 dollars I certainly wouldn't have fallen for it. I guess in the fullness of the world, it has happened at least one time where someone actually only just wants to see what money looks like!

Does make you wonder why you'd pass them your whole pile. Seem they got 7 $100 bills. Seems if passing them one bill to look at would be enough. I thought maybe they gave the Iranians one $500 and one $200 bill, but I thought wrong... 😞

Wow! Where I come from we call that tuition fees.

 

Though I have to admit sheepishly that I and a pal, mesmerized by a con artist, handed over almost all our cash for 'safekeeping' in Singapore. OK, I was only 17 dammit! The funny thing was that when he'd made his pitch my pal and I managed to convince each other it was a good idea. He barely needed to say anything. An easy payday for him - he'd spotted us a mile away. Even today I find that episode excruciatingly embarrassing. 

 

Glad it happened at such a young age. Tuition fees for life. Hope those Israelis cop on as well.

If you are stupid enough to carry around 700$ then I have zero sympathy I’m lucky if I carry 1,000 baht I use my mobile banking for all transactions

Like practically all other peoples, Iranians are normal people, even with criminals, such as In UK, Germany, Australia, etc., but especially in the USA, where even a criminal with a criminal record was elected as president.. However, the Iranians live in a religiously determined dictatorship. Incidentally, this also comes up to the USA, with its highest leader Trump. So there is no reason to disparage the Iranians in general.
