My first suggestion would be to stop shopping at 7-Eleven, there are far better places to get decent values on food products.    I definitely see some inflation in Thailand, however I'm back

  • I don't look at price tags (seriously who does ?) so no, Ive not noticed an increase.

Did you not notice the court ruling taking Nestle out of the shops for a month, hence causing scarcity and opportunity for other coffee brands?   as for my usual shopping items .......

coffee, cooking oil, sugar, bottled sauces,  carnation milk, soaps,  these are just some that have increased somewhat over the last 3-6 months.  Many small pack biscuit's have been removed from most 7-11's, so it's buy the dearer one or don't get.

So what is the point?  Prices have risen somewhat for decades.

while that is true,  I'm just pointing out that many things in 7-11 have risen 25-35% in a couple of months, is it CP greed? who regulates what they charge? as others here have also pointed out how much they're usual buys have gone up.

Decades ago I used to wonder whether it was worth walking to Big C for many items when I could just buy them at 7 for quite literally a baht or two more. Times have really changed. I don't really do anything but emergency shopping and the occasional beer in 7. Nevertheless I am definitely noticing prices either extremely high when looking at the product / it's something that I regularly purchase there and at other places such as big C and notice a substantial difference in price.

Like in the states 7 learned to ask their customers to pay for  convenience. Can't say it's harmed their business in the least

Unfortunately  un like Japan where you can find amazing prices and lawsons and 7.

Please tell me that you're not buying f<deleted>xxng Toasties that recommended to by TT tourists

When I'm feeling lazy it's cow pat gung @ 42bht.

Market prices for coffee and chocolate have increased significantly due to weather and supply chain issues.

I had. A search. The cheapest I could find were B79 (+delivery), which is the same as TOPS in Chiang Rai. Where do you get the from, if you don't mind telling me?

Has anyone noticed how much coffee has increased in price at 7-11 over the past 6 months.

A thai brand 45g pack of freeze dried coffee was 44 baht just 4 months ago,  the same packet is now 58 baht.  That's a wopping 32%  increase .....    and many other items are similar.

Is 7-11 pricing regulated  ?

who sets the price increase on items ....  is it CP  ?   the factory  ?   or the farmer  ?

have you noticed a sharp increase in stuff you buy  ?     I realize Makro & Tesco and others have increased slightly, which is indicative of inflation,   but I'm wondering why some prices have really escalated.

It won't stop, either. Price increases are here to stay. Complaining will get you laughed at.

Chocolate: TOPS is now very expensive. I have a weakness for the Ritter Sport Marzipan bars - a few months ago B89, now B119. Cadburys "bubbley" is now B48, yet 7/11 push it out for B33. The Ritter Sport of course is from Germany, Cadburys here is * think made in Malaysia.

Coffee, as others have said, has gone up similarly. I find Lotus the cheapest. All my local shops have is those ghastly 3 in 1 sachets.

5x moo ping sticks and a bag of sticky rice still 30bht

But how many bites per stick?!!!  😭

Saw an ad today on the BTS for Lactasoy milk: 9 baht... Heavily advertised a few years ago as 'Lactasoy 5 baht', so a whopping 80% increase in only a few years.

Services too; last time I went to my regular Bangkok barber (mid 2023), I paid 160 baht, but less than two years later he's charging 200 baht now, that's a 25 percent increase over the past 20 months!

But you gotta buy them on sales days with vouchers, to get them at 60bht Inc delivery.

The price has increased similarly here in Germany, if not even more (sometimes it is double what I am used to), due to the very bad Cacao harvests. Like the Coffee somebody quoted before, this has nothing to do with Thai greed.

How can he charge more when you have less hair due to aging? 🙂

A man of no principles , i see

Let's talk about principles.

A guy who comes to Thailand to retire then moans, complains, always whinging and whining about dual pricing.

Dual pricing was here well before we all arrived, we knew about it

These are principles you have I'm sure.

Shame on you

Ref the rising price of coffee,  major coffee-producing countries like Brazil and Vietnam have experienced severe weather events, including prolonged droughts, unexpected frosts, and floods. These conditions have significantly reduced coffee harvests. For instance, Brazil's 2024 Arabica crop was severely impacted, leading to a substantial decrease in exports. Similarly, Vietnam faced flooding after a drought, resulting in a nearly 40% drop in December exports. These supply shortages have driven up global coffee prices. The Washington Post+7

Coffee production in Thailand is also decreasing which will lead to importing 80,000 tonnes of coffee this year.

Why don't people just stop buying products which increase in price?

So much of what people buy is not necessary.

So much of what people buy is downright unhealthy, too.

So, stop buying and live longer, so that you can spend more money shopping in your added years.

Yes prices of many things are increasing. Coffee prices up worldwide. The hiccup with Nestle in Thailand. Those probably affected coffee prices here. Also, the US dollar has fallen 8% since the beginning of the year thanks to the D-bag in Washington. As USD is Thailand and the world's trading currency, that should mean it's cheaper for Thailand to import products and commodities (from any country) for cheaper, so, really, prices in Thailand should be reducing if anything. Doesn't make sense. Could be an advance money grab by the oligarchs fearing what's next to come - tariffs and recession? Get the money now before it's gone?

Off topic but gold was 7,000 baht when I first my Thai wife.

A little red box of slime and rice from Seven Eleven was 24 baht when I first came here.  48 baht now.  Still the same slime and rice.

Well, the food business is pretty much monopolized by CP; a late arrival by another member of eliterian oligarch roots is the Chirathivat family (owners of Central group) with their addition of "Go Wholesale". All the small "convenience" stores get their supplies from literally the same source as everyone else.

Congratulations for your financial worryfree status. However, you not noticing increases in prices means a) probably you do not do your own shopping, and b) you not noticing does not make the increased prices go away... and C) your indifference to increased prices would be an enticement for companies to further increases....
