Travan? Is that a brand-name?

0.5 mg of Melatonin would do nothing.

Travan 0.5mg from the local doctor and tried one and I fell asleep immediately for 8 hours.

That sounds like heavy stuff and not for hand luggage.

Melatonin does not throw you on the mattress.

When I first tried melatonin some 30 years ago it worked. Then it didn’t work when I tried it again some five years later. Never used it again. For long flights I pop 100mg diphenhydramine, 1000mg tryptophan and 1000mg niaciinamide. No hangover or fog headed. Valium too I guess if you want a good hard sleep and a foggy head upon waking.

Look at the reviews.

I only buy on Lazada from long time vendors with loads of 4 and 5 stars.

Going to the UK shortly I bought Melatonin sleeping pills for on the plane and for jetlag. They served me well in the past.

This time I bought them from Lazada, each pill 10mg. I tried one and it did not work at all, so I went and bought some Travan 0.5mg from the local doctor and tried one and I fell asleep immediately for 8 hours.

My question is, is it possible that the Melatonin was counterfeit? Especially as I bought them from Lazada?

Is there anyway I can get them tested?

Deleted. Sorry should have been a stand alone comment.

Just found it.

Travan is Lorazepam!

Heavy stuff. Risk of addiction.

Move thread to health ?

I asked the doctor about that, he said only if you start to use it regularly but should not be a problem if only for the flight if only for a sleep on the plane and jetlag.

No way I'll take pills to make me sleep on long haul flights. I want the booze I've paid for in the ticket price.

I won't have that problem as I am a non drinker.

The 5mg is Travan. 10mg is melatonin.

Nobody's going to get addicted by taking a medication one time, unless it's pure heroin or fentanyl.

Lorazepam is mild... My doc was precribing it to me but it was not very effective, she now gives me Alprazolam. 6mg 30 mins before bed and I sleep like a log !

He refers to the fact it is addictive not the strength as a sleeping medicine itself. If it ends with pam it's usually no good hehe.

For most people, 10mg of melatonin is considered too much, especially for regular use.

Recommended Melatonin Dosage:

  • Adults: 0.5mg to 3mg is often effective for sleep onset.

  • Occasional use: Up to 5mg is sometimes used short-term.

  • 10mg: Generally only used under medical guidance; may cause grogginess, vivid dreams, or disrupt natural sleep cycles.

Why Less Is More:

Melatonin is a hormone, not a sedative. Taking too much can backfire, either by making it harder to sleep or causing next-day drowsiness. The body responds best to doses that mimic natural melatonin levels.

I would not trust any Lazada venders, if they cheat with their products, who is to say that they are not cheating with their stars.

Personal opinion, considering your ingesting it, I wouldn't be buying anything from anywhere other than a credible Pharmacy/Hospital/Docotr etc. There is no way I'd be buying from somewhere like an online platform like Lazada, especially one KNOWN to be rife with Chinese counterfeits.

From Chatgpt:

Common issues with counterfeits in Asia include:

  • No active ingredient (completely ineffective)

  • Too much or too little of the ingredient (potentially dangerous)

  • Contaminants or undeclared substances (some have been found with sedatives or other drugs)

To minimize risk:

  • Buy from major pharmacy chains or licensed stores

  • Stick to international brands with third-party testing

  • Avoid "gray market" imports unless you can verify their origin

Thanks Charlie, I have never had trouble sleeping at any time in my life and have no intention of ever using sleeping pills apart from on planes and jetlag.

The last two times I used Melatonin, it worked 100%. I'm sure that this time the Melatonin from Lazada was counterfeit.

Counterfeit is possible, yes. Or might just be a bad brand with little active ingrediant . This is not regulated for things categorized as supplements the way it is for pharmaceuticals.

I often buy various supplements (and, in the past, melatonin) from Lazada or Shoppee but only known & trusted brands.  For past year or so they  haven't had any brands of melatonin that fit that criteria so I've used iHerb instead.

I've been taking Melatonin  pills / gels  for years, about 10 nights per month, 10 or 12 mg. Always work for me, doze off quickly, good sleep and no hang over etc.

I've always bought on line and try to buy 1 or 2 bottles (120 pills bottle) each time, depending on prices which is a roller coaster. Bought many different brands from many different manufacturers / distributors. Always seem to be the same quality /affect. And I have bought from Lazada on a good price, but the bottles didn't mention the Lazada name.

Is Lazada really relevant?  From my understanding they are not pill manufactures and I very much doubt they have any real knowledge about any type of medications.

Alprazolam (Xanax) 6mg is a huge dose and highly addictive. Wicked withdrawal symptoms also if try to stop.

I had a time when I was prescribed some knock off pills (can't remember the name).

Tried to stop and after 48 hours without sleep I had to see the doctor.

That's why I warn of such stuff.

Try everything else before!

My friend uses this for sleeping quickly. He says it puts him to sleep very quickly.  He uses  Benadryl (diphenhydramine--15mg) ...2 times a week....

he alternately takes doxylamine(sominar-10 mg ) a few times a week...He alternates them to try and avoid building up a tolerance  But they are Both second generation antihistamines so I don't know if his plan is working.  These seem to be lower dosages than recommended BUT he also takes 1-2 beers with them to add to the knock out effect.  He claims that by taking the lower amount of pills he gets very little next day grogginess and the alcohol clears his body quickly.  Is something that would be reasonable safe to do 3-4 times a week ??? He has been doing this for several months and doesn't seem to be showing any side effects.  He does complain of getting a very dry mouth which is a common side effect of antihistamines and alcohol ... I was considering trying this but I thought I might get your feedback...Thanks for any opinions.

Lazada is just a platform.

But it can happen that vendors using that platform have counterfeit goods. There are also many legitimate goods on it.

It is buyer beware.

Why not try hydroxazine?

No need for a prescription from a doctor.

I don't like the aftereffects the next morning.

But, for use, once in a dogs age, then I think this thingy is good.
