Truevisions loses EPL

Featured Replies

After I cancelled my True Visions I signed up to Monomax for a year to watch the Premier League for the 1,190 baht lump.

I also signed up to Bein Sports for a year for the same princely sum of 1,190 baht, or 129 baht a month if you want to pay monthly. I bought it primarily for F1 as it has all the races (plus on demand replays). But it also has all the major tennis, it includes Champions League, Europa League, Europa Conference, Bundesliga, La Liga, African Cup of Nations and tons of others. MUTV, Liverpool TV, PSG TV, tons of others.  WRC, Golf, loads of other sports. Amazing value.

Just install the Bein Sports Connect app on the AIS Play Box or directly on your TV and off you go.

Incredible that I used to pay around 2,800 baht per month for True Visions (including internet). But now I have paid 2,380 for the entire year for all the sports I could ever want.

Incidentally the internet went downhill about 6 months ago so I installed AIS fibre. True wouldn't let us cancel our internet as they said I had a package with the TV, so I kept it as didn't want to miss the football. As soon as they lost it I happily canceled everything and even then they made it as difficult and as expensive to do so as they could. Horrible company. Long live AIS, Monomax, and Bein Sports!

Get a decent IPTV subscription and dump True visions, you get all your EPL and much more interesting channels at a fraction of the platinum package price.

Yeah, I got a text from AIS this afternoon. 199 baht per month for all Premier League and FA matches!  That is insanely cheap!

Disagree. Been with True for years and never had any problems with their products, fair prices and good customer service. I was paying approx Bt1.600 per month for a TV package, home internet, True SIM (internet with plenty of free call mins) EPL coverage and Bein Sports 1/2/3.

I wouldn't be banging the Monomax/AIS drum too loud just yet, let's see if their EPL coverage is as good as True's was, or even close to it.

And Monomax for a year to watch the PL isn't Bt1,190 it's Bt1,999 for AIS customers or Bt2,999

I was a massive 9 baht out, glad you pointed that out.

I was with True for as long as I can remember. It did what it needed to (as long as you were on cable, if you had a dish it would go off when it rained). My internet quality seriously deteriorated last year, many complaints to them, they came out once or twice and said "it's fine". It wasn't, it was slow and unreliable. And I was paying around 2,800 baht a month. I had friends who would complain about True but I always said they're fine.......until mine went south and they showed little interest in making it better (I think they knew then the end was nigh).

So then I installed AIS fibre and had been running both for six months maybe and AIS is literally light years ahead in terms of speed and reliability. As mentioned True would not let me unsubscribe only from the internet which gives off bad vibes for a company - they know they have you as they know you want the football, even though I was Platinum for maybe 15 years, it counted for nothing. I said fine, downgrade me to the slowest cheapest internet you have but they wouldn't change my package.

And then when you finally decide to bite the bullet and cancel it all entirely they make it as difficult as possible asking you all sorts of questions, then making you traipse to their office with all the boxes and cables, and then hit you with additional fees. it felt ugly.

I know Monomax is untested, but it will be taking the exact same Sky Sports feed as True did so can't see how it will be any worse or different. Bein has been seamless so far. Time will tell but I am not worried.

9 baht??  You said you paid Bt1,190 go back and check, assume you meant to type Bt1,990. Apology accepted.

All companies break your balls when you say you want to leave, hardly just True. My True internet is fast and reliable.

I hope you're right about Monomax taking the same feed as True did, I did see similar, but it's not from Sky Sports, it's Premier League Productions.

Correct, I apologise.

Yes, correct, PLP are the worldwide producers and distributors. But basically it is the same feed as True or anyone else gets.

Sure, I assume any overseas TV corp that buy PL rights have that included. I still miss the old days of ESPN with John Dykes, Paul 'big bum' Masefield and Shebby Singh lol.

I've been with True for over 25 years, and they've always given me good service, it seems to me to be just the luck of the draw.  Last year I phoned their call centre to check my options.  I was receiving True by satellite on their Gold package and paid extra for the Premier League but my wife didn't need the TV anymore, she got what she wanted on her phone.

The guy suggested I switch to the cheapest package at 319 baht per month and pay 1,990 baht for the additional year Premier League including BeIn Sports for the FA Cup and Euro matches.  Seemed a great deal for me and I took it.

I just had an SMS from 3BB stating that the Premier League is available from them at 1,990 baht. I assume that it will be with Monomax.

I believe True or 3BB don't buy the rights directly from PL, but from a broadcaster that has the rights for multiple countries, but doesn't broadcast directly in those countries

In the case of True they got them from BEIN.

Ooooooops.  They are not Championship games but Div 1 ( 3rd level ). I mis-spoke or ... Mis-wrote.

I must cut down on the beers.

They are advertising Div 1 games now as that starts one week earlier than the championship, so time will tell if they have Championship games, but I suspect not. They are now advertising plenty of Carabao cup games.

Whisper it quietly, but this could be good. Was working ok last night.

There have always been the True bashers out there.

Yes, 3BB/Monomax the same thing as far as this is concerned.

Do the repeats have English commentary?

No listing on BeIn Sports for the FA Cup this season.

Bein Sports do not have the FA Cup rights.

Monomax have all the FA Cup games as well as all the Premier League games.

Worth noting on all the Momomax forthcoming games, if you select any of them it says live build up will begin thirty minutes before kick off.

It remains to be seen if that is Thai punditry  - oh ho!! - or we get UK pundits.

Yes, I saw a comment from them online they will will have the same as what True had, assume they mean 602, but let's see. Tbh, I'm not over fussed about pundits these days, find them annoying in the main and stopped watching most of it in recent years.

Should be in English I suspect, just make sure  your setting are set to English.

It is a touch worrying repeats of friendly games, even between 2 English Premier League teams, are only in Thai.

Also repeats of World Team Championship only in Thai.

I am trying to not start a girly sulk and panic just yet. Almost getting there. 😒. We will see .. I mean hear.

Unless I dreamt it,  the original broadscasts of friendlies I checked in on had an English option. I never watched the team thing on MONO MAX.

Repeats at convenient times to me,  will be my main viewing.

I knew I should have learnt Thai. 🤔

I think the hope will be that the EPL games come from a different 'source'

I seem to recall that the repeats on True were always only in English, didn't even have a Thai option.

Truevisions is proudly stating that it will be showing all Italian Serie A matches starting this season. So, is that it? EPL replaced by Serie A.

Also by SPL, it appears - yippee! Their new season starts this coming weekend, and matches scheduled on 603 & 604 Saturday & Sunday.

I had exactly the same issue with my Thai credit card on my PC.  I then tried with the downloaded app on my phone and it all worked ok.

Yes it happened to me couldn't pay by card, so I scanned their QR code and it was easy, obviously you need a Thai bank account to pay that way.

They will, they even call it 'original language' and the friendly games they have been showing have been in English.

Yes, they say they will be it in English. They use the international feed from PLP which comes clean and with commentary. They will add Thai commentary to the clean feed, so you will have both options.

However, are you being sarcastic with the ... yippee ... or are you actually interested in SPL?

Good info all the same.
